I don't think he would be an elite welterweight like he is at light welterweight. He seems pretty small when he's in the ring at 140 and at 147 he'll look even smaller. I just can't picture him grabbing a world title, at that weight.

Not too good. He's only 5'6" and has very little power at 140.

I cant see him beating any of the top three at welter, for me he should stay at 140 cause it seems like the perfect weight for him but i wouldnt blame him if he decided to move up to chase a big payday.

I think he's too small to reign, but with that being said I dont see him getting outclassed by anyone either. I would favor him over Clottey and a fight with Berto would be 50/50.

He could be a top 10 welter, but his body is already as big as it can ever get and he comfortably makes 140. He could lose a little muscle and make lightweight if he wanted to.

He should stay down at 140. I can't see him posing any threat to the top guys at 147 (Mayweather, Mosley, Pacquiao). I would even go as far as saying he would probably struggle with the majority of the top 10 guys at welter.

Hatton is the perfect example, even though both a very different in styles and build. I can't see him coping at that weight. There are still some very interesting bouts for him at 140, and some exciting fighters could possibly move up from lightweight in the near future, e.g. Valero.

Thats one thing I never understand is with Hatton is he weighs so much outside the ring 170+ and yet WW he hasnt got it! I thought the more he drained his body the weaker and more vulnerable he would be

He has talked about it, but who could he fight? Berto or whoever is holding the IBF belt?

Not very well and not because of size because I think he will carry that well. I think Floyd, Pac, Mosley, Clottey, Cotto, Margo, PW, Berto all beat him.

Bradley vs Judah at 140/147 is a good matchup though, Im not sure why this hasnt been arranged.

Exactly...I thought he would be more comfortable at 147lbs with him not having to drain down that extra half stone. I rewatched some of his bouts after the Tszyu bout and noticed he was being staggered by shots he would usually walk through. I thought his punch resistance had gone after the Mayweather bout, but I think the ballooning up and down in weight was having an effect on him after the Tszyu bout.

His best performance after the Tszyu bout was Malignaggi...

It may be his only option. Because everyone at 140lbs (Maidana, Khan, kotelnik, Mallignaggi, Victor Cayo, Victor Ortiz) is avoiding him.

That's a good point! Fighting weight is hard to evaluate sometimes especially when fighters gain a lot between fights. And with each body reacting differently it's hard to say. I was watching Duran-Barkley last week and it's still hard to imagine Duran at the beginning of this career (as a 135 fighter) fighting a guy who looks at least like a light-heavyweight 10 years later.
