How would Ali`s first pro opponent have fared in today`s heavyweight division? "He kept me away from him", "But I nailed him", In fact he caught him a few times, but Clay`s speed made the difference. He was really a light heavyweight, at most a very small heavyweight.
Probably very much the same as in his own. Ali never forgot him however. When he got involved in some charity initiative many years later, Ali traveled to his home town to support it.
He went quite ok for a police chief. Perhaps City Coliseum Hunsaker might even win a strap!!!! He and Ali stayed friends for years. When asked he said he didn't agree with Ali's refusal to draft but still respected him greatly as both a man and a fighter. I really enjoy stories like that where opponents stayed close and had the odd interaction. Hagler and Hearns, Cobb and Holmes etc. It's great.
