I think Tyson kicks ass pretty good against dempseys boys. But I also think Dempsey wipes the floor with Tysons over rated (often psyched out) fodder.

First rd KO'S on all these guys with the left hook that he throws that begins in his toenails! Look at their right hands.

Other way round, Dempsey's opposition gets props in the Classic, while Tyson's quality opponents constantly get insulted & underrated by far more people in both sections than those who overrate them. Also, I doubt modern big boys would be "psyched out" against a pasty 187lb former hobo.

Stop trying to be Seamus Suzie... You don't have the wit and sense of humor to pull it off.. even if your point is valid.

    I love you.

He's not trying to be Seamus.

    It's Marciano > Dempsey

    All Day.

Havn't you heard all the people trying to dismiss Jess Willard as a farmhand who stumbled into a boxing ring, and somehow picked up the world title on the way?

a fighter is a whole lot easier to beat if he is psyched out. he is about as easy to beat as a sitting duck. beating a psyched out guy nothing to boast about.

I am a Tyson fan as well as a Dempsey fan. Both at their best were unbeatable within their own time.

Because of career timing, at any one time there just isnt room to have that many prime Atg champions around at the same time. Each champion benefits from this. The fact that there is one around kind of means their cannot be another because each particular ATG has benefited from the right timing to develop into that extra something.

There is a reason why each super talent lived at another time zone with his own era to dominate. It is because all the careers of his availible rivals have to favour his own career path. If he was matched harder he would burn out and simply not shine like he did and a more fortunate fighter would take his place. A little hype helps all great champions along ..dempsey included.

All fighters look great winning when the odds favour them. Because of career timing a fighter can look great beating good fighters but often they are no longer good fighters when they are beaten. Its important not to decide the fighter you dont like is the only one who gets all the breaks. All great fighters (as well as being "great" champions) also happen to get all the breaks.

Doesn't speak a lot for the value of the title back in the day, does it?

At least there was only one of them, or two at the most.

Yeah, and they tried their damnedest to keep those coloreds away from them, also.

    Those were the days.

Even so, it was not unknown for a fight to take place between two fighters who were both ranked in the top 10 at the time!

    Think of that!

You're depressing me. Only seems to happen in MMA anymore, which does nothing for me. Saw that Rahman just pulled out of his fight against Povetkin. I'm sure someone finagled the rankings so Hasim was top-10...

    Knock it off, Janitor.

Tyson was wiping out all of the TOP 2 fighters your Lineal guy Spinks was obligated to fight and opted not to as 'Champion'.
