How would Tyson react to Ali's trash talk?

80s Tyson imho was too focused to fall for the bait but honestly don't see it trash talk b4 the fight mattering anyways. Tyson was easy to clinch and Ali would've tied him up saying, "You a big ol pit bull who ironically got no bite tonight!" or whatever all night. Jabbing his face off and controlling the pace throughout the evening.



During the fight sure it wouldn't help but again Tyson is not going to be confident regardless while not having an answer to Alis tactics. All assuming Tyson is fighting a 71-74 Ali and he isn't too caught up in star gazing since they'd both b in the same era. Remember Tyson saying he wanted revenge on Holmes for Ali for an example of him lookin up to Ali.

 

Tyson loved Ali. Too bad he didn't learn from him the perils of sticking around too long and mismanaging your money.

 

Yeah both let their status get to them but that's most famous athletes tbh.

 

If Ali came up a little later maybe he would have made enough money to not burn through it. OTOH you spend as much as you earn.

 

Ali was rich till the day he died.

 

When he married Lonnie his finances improved dramatically, especially after selling his image rights for fifty million dollars.

 

Didn't Ali refer to Fraziers son as kong, i could be wrong but pretty certain he told Frazier after i beat your son kong...

 

At some point in the fight with Foreman, he said something like, “They told me you could punch. Don’t let me down, George.”

The man had minerals as large as planets.

 

He also told him he was punching like a sissy.

 

Tyson's from the streets, not to mention he served real time in prison.

I don't see him tolerating any type of disrespect from Ali.
It's just different times. Ali played the bully on guys back in the 60s and 70s, people were different back then, it was more socially expected to be respectful of others.

Tyson came up in the projects during the early 80s when dudes were wiling out during the crack epidemic. He would have little respect for Alis antics.
Hell, even Larry Holmes punked Ali in the buildup to their fight (don't think it was the actual press conference, but It was on TV). I know Ali was already old but Larry Holmes slapped him and Ali just sat there smiling and looking stupid. Imagine what Tyson would do if he were so inclined .

 

Once 1964-1967 Ali gets into Tyson's head...the fight is over before it starts!!!

 

You people make me laugh with your stupid cliche's, Ali ain't getting into anyone's head, Tyson couldn't give a rat's arse about Ali's talking, he'd probably find it funny. Ali's talk worked against the idiots of his era, not against someone like Tyson.

Tbh, I do have a vague recollection of Ali calling Tyson son of Kong (as in son of Frazier) but then shortening it to Kong - since I didn’t remember exactly I didn’t say too much about it.

 

For sure. And they way he was dressing Foreman down during the pre fight instructions, and also looking him up and down disdainfully as if to fully assess George and then indicate that George was nothing to him - absolutely iconic stuff.
