    ...the best ww versions of...

    - Oscar De La Hoya

    - Felix Trinidad

    - Ike Quartey

And if you can be bothered providing more answers, how about Paul Williams and Floyd Mayweather as well?

The only fighter of that group that I would pick to beat Forrest is Trinidad. He was a wrecking ball and had a good jab, and lefthook that he setup from distance. Quartey would always present some problems because of his style but he wasnt busy enough. The rest I would favor Vernon over.

Too strong for Floyd that fought DLH for example, but I think Floyd is really just now growing into being a full fledged welterweight and I think it will show on May 1st.

I hold Forrest in very high esteem and would probably pick him over Oscar and prime Quartey. The Trinidad fight is a good one and I see it being somewhat like Tito's fight with David Reid but a bit more competitive. This might be controversial to some here but I pick Forrest to beat Pernell Whitaker by decision.

The more I think about that fight and the closer we get, the more I am coming round to the view that Floyd is going to give Shane a royal beating. I still don't (and won't) accept that Floyd has the meat behind his punches to get a KO or even TKO, but I have been thinking a lot about this fight and I think Floyd is just going to be far too much for a past his best SSM.

Yeah Pop, again I know its a controversial pick in a h2h match up but that's how I honestly feel.

It's a no brainer , imo. Shane doesn't deal very well with technical boxers, and without the youth and speed that he used to have, he's going to look lost in there.

Forest would not beat Oscar. Oscar might even knock forrest out. I thought a old Ike beat Forrest, so I suspect a younger Quartey could do better. Forrest is getting unwisely overrated in this thread. Are people forgetting Forrest lost TWICE to Mayorga? Forrest had shanes number plain and simple. Great matchup for him. But he was never that good. Certainly not in the class of a De La Hoya. I think Forrest would be made for oscar.

He'd beat Williams down and might edge Floyd, but he loses to the rest. Trinidad would stop him in the late rounds imo. DLH and Ike would win closish decisions.

Tito KO's him eventually. Forrest didnt have the legs, nor the chin to beat Tito.

Forrest vs DLH and Ike would both be close fights either way. Due to styles I think Ike beats him in a close fight, and Vern beats DLH in a close fight.

He clearly outpoints Floyd. Too much height, and range, and too good a techncial boxer for Floyd to potshot.

He'd have beaten the **** outta Williams.

He outboxes and outspeeds Tito, Williams, Pacquaio and Oscar. Loses a decision to Quartey and Floyd, I'm basing that to a degree off the Quartey fight where both were past prime

People must realize Forrest had terrible shoulder problems, multiple operations and never really recovered 100% from them. He was old too when he fought Quartey and he still eeked it out. At his best he was a tremendous fighter, thats why everyone avoided him. The only reason Mosley fought him was the same reason ODLH fought Mosley, for revenge from the amatuer losses, but noone wanted any part of Forrest for good reason. He was tall an excellent boxer with a mean streak. He fought stupid against Mayorga in the first fight and got caught. The second fight I thought he won, and Don Kings influence kept the title in Mayorgas hands.

I repeat.... Forrest did not posses the legs, defense, or chin to beat Tito at 147.

Forrest was an excellent technical boxer, but relatively flat footed, and he could be hit. DLH gave Tito trouble because of his great legs, and Forrest never was as fleet of foot as Oscar.

Tito was tall and rangy at 147, which is something alot of people forget. And he had good enough quickness and timing to wear he'd start finding Forrest eventually. And when he does, I really have no faith in Forrest's chin taking too many of Tito's bombs.
