The same ref that wouldn't allow the mauler hatton his usual roughhousing vs may....

Some of wards tactics remind me of the hatton/tszyu fight (sans the low blows)

Do you think his performance would falter? Maybe his roughhousing is hiding a shaky chin ala hatton? :think

cortez has slipped i think,he used to be a lot better.but not a fan anymore.

i dont see ward beating froch.infact i could imagine froch hitting ward easily and knocking him out possibly.

    this :deal

you only have to look how cortez entirely changed his refereeing philosophies in a matter of weeks to favour the american fighter.

eg - calling clinches in hatton v mayweather before they had even clinched, then a few weeks later allowing hopkins to hug calzaghe all night without saying **** all to him.

ward would be just fine with cortez refereeing - trust me :deal

Ward can fight on the inside, outside and mid range! He fought Green and Bika on the inside but he mixed it all up with Kessler!

Watch out for drunken Hatton fans to come in here with tears running down their eyes, ass and everywhere. Of course once you question them how Hatton was allowed to make a career holding at will, headbutting, rabbit punching, shoving, elbowing, testicle choking, combinations to the kidney and everything else illegal in England they will instantly disappear.

Hatton's chin deteriorated the more pies he ate.

Hatton only fought 3 world class big hitters in his career

Tszyu was faded and wasn't able to get proper range or timing due to hatton's "performance

Urango was so slow he wasn't able to hit hatton clean

Pac.... well we all know what happend their

When hattons chin was finally tested at world class level against punchers who landed clean shots on him. It didnt hold up

and it was complained about non stop then too

Scar you know I've got a great deal of respect for you , but if it was wrong for Hatton ( as Cortez decided it was in the Floyds fight ) its just as wrong for Ward

Have you seen Harry Greb fight? Or Fritzie Zivik and Henry Armstrong fight? Hatton's roughhousing is nothing in comparison. Boxer's today are allowed to get away with less though I agree. Hatton was allowed some massive liberties in England. Like where he nearly got KTFO againt Juan Lazcano and then the ref called time out to tie his bloody shoe laces. Unbelievably unfair. The Kostya Tszyu fight is often cited as a rough fight on Hatton's part but Tsyzu was almost as bad on the inside. Hatton's huge low blow was a response to about 4 by Kostya.

With regards to Ward. If Hatton was penalized by Cortez for being a wrestler I see no reason why Ward should get away with it either. Cortez is mentally inconsistent though - he pulled Floyd and Hatton apart constantly, yet he let Hopkins hold the **** out of Calzaghe constantly. Weird.

Kostya fought like that because he had no choice. If somone is fouling the **** out of you, and the ref is doing nothing about it..... what the **** are you going to do? Stand their and let him maul you to death?

Kostyas low blow was no intentional either... Hattons was ridiculous and would have got him DQed anywhere outside of england

No it wasn't complained about back then and you know it. Whoever brought the topic out was bombarded with insults, I always brought it up and Hatton fans would go nuts.

I'd like to see more fights of Ward there to judge if he's really being protected like Hatton was. One fight doesn't explain it and it wasn't those tactics that made Ward beat Kessler, he confused him with his speed, movement and basically out-boxed him. Yes those headbutts and cheating tactics did play a major role but were they are HUGE as in Hatton fights or corrupted fights in England?, not even close. Kessler is still alive and well, right?, take a look at McClellan.
