How would Wlads speed work out against Ali?

Its not just speed but accuracy. Ali was way more accurate than Haye. Haye is sloppy as hell and hes garbage on the inside, his balance and coordination and inside work is no where near the same as Ali

Ali is way ahead of Haye in natural athleticism even though their gap in speed is much closer because Ali had way better balance and accuracy, same with Roy Jones, you didnt see him off balance and flailing around like Haye and he fought some highly spilled guys in Toney and Hopkins and didnt have the issues of missing that Haye had with Wlad. Haye had the speed and reach to land on him regularly but he is too sloppy and Wlad too skilled.

 

I still think that Brewster fight was weird. Even without conspiracy theories, it still looks like some kind of medical problem. I dont buy that he just got tired that easy that early in the fight. He is always superbly conditioned, so what if he went all out early, a lot of fighters do. When I saw the fight live I thought maybe he had a concussion. I mean when you saw him in the corner he looked like he was about to pass out / fall asleep, not like he was just winded.

 

Ali backs up straight....so does Wlad.
Ali's got longer reach...span...but combine with height it will be even there.
Ali lacked the upper body motion of Haye.

Least any one forget before Ali KO'ed Lyle in the 11-12th, Ali was behind in points to Lyle, and Lyle was not on coke.

One or two of the rounds of the second Patterson fight, Ali was as awkward as Wlad at getting away from that fierce attack.

No Ali was not always as smooth as butter. And everyone keeps forgetting he was tall for the day at 6 foot 3, and combined with his extra long arms leaned back against the smaller fighters he fought. He had no plan B on that...He could not box out of the orthdox style...Dundee tried to teach him and couldn't.

Many of the fighters were not really familiar with a Ali low jab (no one else used it)....and Vitilie use one, so Wlad could get some sparing in.

Ali ruined a whole generation of fighters who tried that style, while not being tall enough nor having extra long legs.


Terril had Wlad's height...but not the power.
Ali has a great chin. Forget not to check the corner for razor blades and check the ring ropes to be with in regulation a minute before the fight....Ali's corner cheats.

It would be a good fight...no easy win for either....Now we'd have to get some judges that never heard of Ali....some one from the mid-fifties, in Ali won rounds by being Ali every once in a while, when the other man did more.

And it would be fun to see the ATG at clutching end up being the smaller man getting pressed down instead of doing the pressing.
Ali was a master of clutching and often made it seem the other man started it....a real master.

I loved that Wepner fight, laced Ali, showed him no respect at all.

I think it would be a close fight as I said.
Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Seeing I was watching the living Ali....and Clay....I was not watching the Legend; my view is different than yours... Clay was Patterson fast, and that is fast.

I don't remember when he fought Machen, but it was after his prime....prime to prime that would have been a good fight...but Ali was taller and had a longer reach.

I actually thought Terril had a chance.


The main problem is that hate blinds folks to how good Wlad is in what he does.
Rope a dope won't work on Wlad...but rope a dope was later when Ali lost his legs.

212 pound Ali vs 242 pound Wlad....and neither has to worry about an inside game. Two of the better jabs going....both fight plans built on the jab....one jab and go, the other stalk and jab.

Be a very competitive fight.

 

People just remember the best Ali. They never Remember the Ali that fought Cooper or Young or Wepner or Lyle.

Just like today if fans only remembered Wladimir for Byrd or Mercer or Brook....It's just cherry picking...........
