How would you advise 1904 Jeffries vs. prime Dempsey/Marciano/Frazier?

How would you advise 1904 Jeffries if he were fighting prime versions of Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano and Joe Frazier?

How would your advise differ given different scheduled rounds (12, 15, 20 or more)?

Would Jeffries have difficulty finding the bodies of these three?

Would Jeffries be able to smother their inside game?

Should Jeffries fight tall and of the back foot? Should he try to go from tall to small if they close the distance, to make his body less accessible? Should he change his approach at a certain point of the fight (depending on how the fight is going)?

Also (if you wish) how would you advise Jack, Rocky or Joe?

Dempsey himself said Jeffries would have Ko'd him. Jeffries had a great mix of brute strength, size, power, durability, and stamina. Swarmers such as Dempsey, Marciano, and Frazier would have quite a few stylistic disadvantages.

I think that Jack Dempsey would be the most dangerous of the three for him to tackle.

Jeffries actualy has a prety good style for dealing with the pure swarmers such as Marciano and Frazier. He has the strength to force them onto the back foot and the style to make them pay for coming forward. He also has the goods if it comes to outlasting them.

Against Dempsey he isn't quite bringing the right game to the table. If you let Dempsey do anything in the early rounds you are likley to be in trouble fairly quickly. He would need to get stuck in early to win this fight, and I get the sense that he might not do it.

I have to dispute this,no one doubts Jeffries durability ,but the best swarmer he faced is this man.

Tom Sharkey, seen here with Jeffries , note the size differential.
A young Jack Johnson was a sparring partner for Sharkey he said he was easy to hit and showed it, Sharkey in return found Jack's head an elusive target ,and Johnson was soon sacked.
Sharkey was a brawling come forward slugger with little or no defence ,yet he twice went the 20 ,and 25 rds distance with Jeffries.
In one of their fights several ringsiders thought it was too close to call a winner. Sharkey was 6 inches shorter than Jeffries .
If a wide open swarmer like Sharkey could give Jeffries life and death , surely faster , more elusive swarmers like Dempsey and Frazier, and heavier punchers liKe Marciano,[all of who would be favourite to beat Sharkey], would give Jeffries hell?

Training advice for Jeffries? Use Sam Langford as your sparring partner, and warm up thoroughly before the fights , especially the Dempsey one.

Which fight reports indicate Jeffries used his strength against come forward swarmers?
His most noted opponent with this style was Sharkey ,Jeffries sat back and counter punched in their fights and Sharkey charged all night. I think Jeffries was pretty ineffective at using his size and weight myself, have you any reports to the contrary?

I think by the time Jeff gets into gear against Dempsey he will have shipped an appreciable amount of heavy shots ,and sustained enough facial damage to determine that the fight would end up being stopped in Dempsey's favour.

Critics are unanimous about Dempsey in saying anyone he could hit was in trouble, well every class man Jeffries fought ,[except Ruhlin, who ran], hit him plenty.
Dempsey would hit him plenty ,and probably permanently.
Frazier might walk onto a big left from Jeff, early on, he was usually a slow starter. but he would also at 205lbs, be Jeff's near equal in weight .
I think they may have reasonably comparable power ,though I would give the edge to Frazier ,but Joe is faster with his punches, he would be initiating the action ,something that Jeffries rarely did ,[according to reports], therefore he would be landing first.

Jeffries patented left smash to the body would not be as effective against the bobbing and weaving Frazier[and Dempsey ,Marciano] as it was against the tall, upright Ruhlin ,it's true Jeffries damaged Sharkey's ribs ,but Sharkey was wide open , relying on his toughness and strength ,[a fundamental mistake against a man 6inches taller and 32lbs heavier] none of this trio were.
I think Marciano might be in more jeopardy against Jeffries than the other two, simply because he is slower afoot , his more measured approach might give Jeffries enough time to counter his swings with big return fire.Marciano has the edge in firepower, but was prone to cuts,,its likely this one is decided by a tko ,and Jeffries might be the winner .

Being a human punching bag and hoping your opponent gets tired is never a good style to deal with Marciano and Frazier :D

The Tom Sharkey-Jeffries fights shows me why I could never pick Jeffries over a Marciano, Dempsey, or Frazier.

I suppose if he was going to fight all 3 he could sell advertising space on the soles of his shoes
