Not saying Floyd needs anybodies advice but if you were Floyds trainer, what would you have him work on in camp, that would be a apart of his Gameplan. Most likely Canelo will have a massive size advantage and will be coming in 170+. Canelo is a fighter who posses power, poise and good hand speed. When he wants, I've notice he throws a strong stiff jab. Whats the gameplan? :think
Keep the fight on the outside, fight at long range by constantly jabbing Canelo to the body and head and set up his power shots when Canelo opens up or when he least expects you to throw.
Roger will tell you :hey Against Oscar Roger: "Keep tapping him with the jab, down the stretch you gonna get his ass. Don't worry down the stretch, let the ***** get tired a bit. He ain't doing **** anyway, he just walking in. Keep the jab working, keep the feint working and stay off the rope when you don't have to. Every now then get on it, but don't stay on the ropes for so long "
Lopez had his moments against Canelo when he fought on the outside, but he got carried away a bit too much and got caught badly when he rushed in a few times.
Alvarez is open for straight shots downstairs.:yep The left down low was always there, but Trout stuck him a few times with the right downstairs also. It'll serve Floyd well to alternate between the jab, straight right, and right hook upstairs. Alvarez has shown some defense for the jab and right hook, but they weren't thrown by Floyd Mayweather. Alvarez often tries to think, and he does so a lot. It'll benefit Floyd to make Alvarez guess if a shot upstairs is coming and which shot it could be.
Run run clinch clinch.. basically pt 2 of Guererro someone who is allowed to clinch and hold on for dear life on the inside is a tough puzzle for anyone, mayweather has mastered the art of running, clinching and ducking for cover... i would advise him to fight canelo that way, if he wants to win.. and instead of the right to head, right to the body. Mays shots will not hurt canelo, may needs to gas him
Actually trouts slipperyness was a great tune up for mayweather... now with that experience, and a new S&C coach, he will be very ready.
No, not at all, totally different styles...Trout doesnt do anything like Mayweather. I actually think Haymon put trout in there with Canelo to see How Canelo deals with movement and decent boxing skills.
I don't want to make a technical breakdown but I will say that Floyd should reserve extra energy for the rounds after the 6th... And since Alvarez will likely be trying to preserve his energy more, take advantage of stealing the first couple rounds... I think stamina is one of the keys to this fight. Not just "stamina in general" but stamina and how it will be affected by the size or movement of their opponent.
