How would you appraise Kelly Pavlik's chin?

I think it's good and quite underrated. I don't think it's very good of course, but I think that when analysing Pavlik's chances, we shouldn't get overly concerned by his chin.

When he is knocked down, he comes back up looking reasonably clear-headed. This is the most important thing, I think, not the fact that he goes down from time to time after taking a lot of shots.

If anything, it's not his chin we should worry about, but his relatively poor defence and overconfidence in attack, but I guess lack of experience has a lot to answer for where those things are concerned.

    Your thoughts?

Its not VERY good at all, Taylor had him in all sorts of trouble(not a big puncher), Taylor should have finished him but didnt. But definately give him credit fot coming through it.

I agree with your analysis. If his chin was that bad he'd have been KO'ed by Miranda or Taylor. And he's still improving and yet to peak.

Nice and taut, good shape, not too big or too small. I would give it 7.5/10 :)

Decent chin. Taylor caught him cold and he took his shots well after that. Hopkins ain't stopping him put it that way.

Yes, he let Miranda take a lot of shots at him and he was fine. I think you are right also when you talk about the importance of experience here. You cannot put muscle on a chin, but everyone who has boxed for a couple of years knows that you can learn how to take and recover from a punch better. I think he is doing just that. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up being considered as having a very good chin in two-three years.

It's an okay chin, nothing more, but he has good recovery powers. Taylor is nothing close to a puncher but had him within a whisker of a brutal ko and he's been down before. It's not a concern.

Zuniga put him down in the first round. It was a flash KD by Zunigas signature left hook....Boxlinker has the fight...you should check it out!!! Fantastic fight. After the KD Kelly owned him and cut his face to shreds..It was a war however. Zuniga really surprised me with his stamina and workrate in that fight....he was like the energizer bunny on crack

It's suspect and decent. Who knows how he will react when he is hit by a big puncher in Abraham.

Has never been hurt to the point where a fight was in doubt. Was knocked early in his career and came back and KO'd him. Zuniga caught him going backwards and Kelly slid on his backside about 5 feet. He came back to stop him.

He has a good chin, and great recupperating skills.
