    Is he a boxer? A puncher? A boxer-puncher combination?

He is good offensively, but is he slick defensively? Is it true Freddie Roach doesn't teach good defense?

    Help me out.

Mid-range swarmer capitalizing on quick feet and hands to do a lateral in-and-out attack.

He has underrated defense and counter punching ability.
He's good at parries and improved a lot with dodging (which greatly showed in the compubox numbers of Pac-JMM 3, JMM getting an all-time-low connect percentage on their trilogy).
Solid chin, mediocre balance, mediocre ring cutting, have one of the best left straights and counter right hooks in the sport right now.

He's essentially a boxer puncher these days. Back in the day he was more of a quick slugger/swarmer

I'd call him a boxer puncher, but he can come off like a slugger / swarmer too. He's got one of the most unique styles ever .

His footwork is the craziest thing Ive ever seen. Anyone who says his footwork is bad doesn't know anything about boxing. He has some technical flaws but the way he's able to bounce off his punches, and throw combinations on the move is amazing.. If you've never boxed or tried boxing you have no idea how difficult that is. Most fighters need to have there feet planted to throw power shots and basically nobody can throw 3, 4's, and 5's while on the move like he can. Also the way he pivots and shifts and creates angles is something basically nobody else uses in the game and it's an underutilized skill.

He's also developed into a solid boxrer and counter puncher, and he's underrated in that area. Aside from a select few there arent a lot of guys who could outbox him.

I have been trying to figure it out myself. He is what you might call unorthodox awkward swarmer. He fights with ferocity and has that burst of speed and power. He is not text book. Throws weird punches in bunches and has very average defense.Get's hit a lot. Dunno I dunno let's just call it Pacquia style no can duplicate. He wont win style points and as ugly as it looks surprisingly it works for him.

In the old "one-dimensional" days (remember bscene or btalk rankings always used to state "he's one-dimensional, but that one-dimension is too much for anyone"..) he really was like a relentless PacMan chasing them power pellets, hence he was known as 'the Destroyer' back then. He's become more of a boxer-puncher today
