I would describe him as the Perfect Storm - all the disparate elements of talent, skill and ability converged into a single vessel - and that vessel was the good-ship Roy Jones.

One of the best fighters in boxing history h2h. At 168lbs, I think he was as close as it gets to unbeatable.

Can you guys please stop like no fighter other than Jones has faced tomatoe cans and cherry picked fighters. Ali, Pacquiao, Duran, etc. have all fought plenty tomatoe cans.

Jones was a four weight champion/ titlist( 160,168,175, heavyweight) easily beat Ruiz a heavyweight who gives everyone he fights fits. And possibly was the greatest super middleweight ever.

Champions and titlist defeated and weights they were champs and who are hall of famers:good

    1)Jorge Vaca(147)
    2)Jorge Castro(160)
    3)Bernard Hopkins (160/175):good
    4)Sugarboy Malinga(16
    5)James Toney( 160, 168, 190):good
    6)Vinny Pazienza (135/154)
    7)Eric Lucas (16
    8)Mike McCallum(154, 160, 175):good
    9)Montell Griffin(175)
    10)Virgil Hill(175):good
    11)Lou Del Valle(!75)
    12)Reggie Johnson(160/175)
    13)Julio Cesar Gonzalez(lineal 175)
    14)Clinton Woods(175)
    15)John Ruiz(heavyweight)
    16)Antonio Tarver(175)
    17)Felix Trinidad(147/154/160):good
    18)Jeff Lacy(168)

Thats more world champions than any active fighter today including Money May, Manny, Bernard etc.

whoa whoa slow down with facts! you're gonna lose primeike with all this logic and reasoning. you need to keep it simple like "sanitation worker" or "bin man"...you know one or two words at the MOST

First off,I'm a New Yorker,a Holyfield fan and not a Lewis fan. However,I watched the fight in the living room of a friend of mine with a group of friends of all ethnicities and nationalities and all of us were on for Holyfield. However, after the fight when the decision was announced,we were all dissappointed that Lewis didn't get the nod(as was the Garden crowd judging by their response) because he deserved it.Secondly,Your quote that any British boxer would be put off by going to the States could be reversed as the same thing could be applied to a fighter of any nationality other than an Englishman who gets into the ring with Frank Warren and Ricky Hatton's favorite ref in Dave Parriss, who personifies the expression biased.Ever see the Hatton-Tszyu fight,Barrera-Khan or Rogan-Sexton 1?It's obvious that any Non-english fighter that gets into the ring against an Englishman in England with Parriss as ref is going to get screwed because Parriss doesn't have it in him to be unbiased and professional.

But yet you've made a statement about Joe.Are you aware that Joe used to claim fear of flying as an excuse as not to travel? Are you also aware that Joe claimed in his autobiography and in at least one more live interview that Jones was shot due to the 2 devastating ko losses to Tarver and Johnson and because of that,JC said that he would never fight Jones? And are you aware that once the fight was signed JC went around saying that Jones was not shot and still great? Are you also aware that Jones was robbed far worse in the '88 Olympics than Lennox was in the Garden in '99 and because of that, spent his whole career saying he would never go abroad because he didn't trust foreign judges?

wow, very conveniant excuse for roy that. i'll never fight a proper challenge abroad because i lost a poor decision when i was an amateur - pathetic :deal

are you aware jones had a china chin?

are you aware that a prime jones took his anger out on civil servants and sanitation workers?

are you aware that jones had no heart? in every fight that the going got tough, jones wilted?

are you aware he wanted nothing to do with mcllellan, benn, eubank, collins, prime calzaghe, and DM?

are you aware that an over the hill calzaghe made roy jones look like a sanitation worker?

well those are certainly sentences headbanger, i'll give you that. but here are some facts:

1)the going got tough in Tarver 1 and he dug deep in the final two rounds and won clearly

2)Offers were made to benn, eubank, collins and DM. Collins couldn't be made cause of money and DM wouldn't come over. No offer was made to "prime calzaghe" cause no one knew the ****er even existed. He was friends with mclellan and neither wanted to fight

3)a near prime calzaghe made a shot jones look bad yes. but a sanitation worker? well there's a lot of garbage men that could put joe on his ass in the first round then. i wouldn't brag about that

Hypocrite and play false with the facts, but condidering your previous posts and your prejudices, that's to be expected of you.Tocker Podwill, anyone?First off,Calzaghe used his fear of flying as an excuse. That's far more pathetic than Jones not wanting to trust foreign judges after getting screwed in Korea considering that Joe overcame his fear and flew to the US to fight Hopkins and a completely shot Jones. And what's even more pathetic is Calzaghe's next excuse about not wanting to travel to the US because of what happened with Lewis. That's pathetic.Over the hill Calzaghe made Jones look like a sanitation worker?Calzaghe was close to prime because his workrate, handspeed and fine footwork were all still there.AND,Calzaghe knew Jones was shot because he wrote it in his autobiography, then took the fight and said Jones was still great,BLANTANTLY lying about the situation. How ****ing pathetic is that?Sucks Calzaghe is a proven liar, doesn't it?Ducked Calzaghe in their primes?Jones was fighting at lightheavy while Calzaghe was at 168,so they weren't even on each others' radars at that time.Eubank wanted nothing to do with Jones and there were offers made with all the others except maybe Collins.DM?How many times did he leave Germany?Once early to fight in Portugal and once later to fight in his native Poland, just next door to Germany.Yeah,he was dying to fight Jones.Right.And Jones wasn't knocked off his feet until the flash knockdown against DelValle at 175,2 divisions above his debut weight.Jones wilted when under pressure? He was getting outboxed in his first fight against Griffin, then proceeded to turn the fight around until he got stupid after the knockdown.Considering the contents of your posts you really aren't concerned with facts, are you?
