Rhythm-less and rhythm disrupting. Really disciplined fighting style backed up by a great and consistent work ethic.

 

Watch the recent lhw fight between Thompson/Coyne and if you know what youre watching you will become less impressed with floyd. thompson used floyds shoulder roll and added some decent movement and was able to completely dominate Coyne who is a slugger. Coyne was only able to land 18% of his punches. there are a few guys that use the shoulder roll but they dont use the movement to go with it so its less effective than floyd. see broner and berto. People crack me up that floyd "figures guys out and exploits their weaknesses". that is the biggest load of bull ever! Floyd fights the same type of fighter every time out and floyd makes you have to adjust to him. And guys cant figure him out because they simply dont have the speed and movement to do so. the only type of slugger that can beat floyd is a guy who has a long hard jab and is willing to commit to it and fight behind it all night. Boxing has 3 styles boxer,boxer puncher and slugger. floyd has fought nothing but sluggers since dlh and the only exception is mosely whos a boxer puncher who was way past his prime.

Floyds advantage is that he has perfected the style and it comes second nature to him. the shoulder roll is who he is as a fighter where guys like berto,thompson,broner etc. are learning the style and trying to use it like a suit of armor. a warrior is not great because he wears the best armor he is a great warrior because his greatness is enhanced by his armor and they are one. that is floyd and thats what all these imitators dont understand. Floyd is great but what he`s dong in the ring doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out. for instance if you jab floyd he`ll block it. if he starts getting hit with a jab he stops trying to block it and starts to step away when you throw it. what happens is then you start reaching and he starts to time you coming in and he simply starts nailing you with the lead rights and occasional left hook as you come in. once he takes that from a guy the guy starts getting confused on what to do next but thats when floyd starts leaping in with that left hook or the straight right and he ducks away or wraps you up. now your in panic mode and their goes the rest of the fight. this is basic basic stuff as theres more to it but im sure some of you know exactly what im talking about because you see it plain as day.

 

Great fighter period.
He's definitely defensive, but imo he puts more mustard into his shots than some of the more recent defensive specialist which include Whitaker, Hopkins, and Wright.

Definitely has breat boxing skill, but I do think his fanbase overrates it.
Mayweather would'nt be nearly as good if he had the quickness and speed of say a fighter like Hopkins or Marquez who make the most of their skillset in its pure form

Mayweather has ATG overall skills, its to bad he's been reluctant to take on all comers.
