How would you feel about Bute if he doesn't do his utmost to fight Kessler in 2009?

    Kessler is second best. No shame in it. Bute could well be third best, in fact I think he is.

    I seem to have got up your nose for some reason and really im only reiterating what bute said, but on a bigger scale. If he wants to cash in on some easy fights before fighting Kessler than so be it. I just have a problem with a world champion saying he isnt ready to fight the best in the world. Maybe its the lil boxing purist inside my brain.

    What you really have a problem with is the concept of there being more than one world champion. This is what leads you to come up with all these ridiculous statements and why you are obsessed with trying to come up with an appropriate title for Bute that doesn't include the term "Champion" in it... :yep

    For this fight to happen. Bute first need to become a big enough name in boxing. If there is no money in this fight. Both man probably won't want to fight each other. That's how boxing works.

    Just look at Cotto. He won a title and he didnt go after the big guns right away. You think he could have defeated Judah and Mosley 3 years ago? lol

    Wouldn't Bute be a big enough name if he beat Andrade, Stieglitz and perhaps even winner of Froch v. Inkin, Maxime?

    Depends if those fights are on american TV or not.

    He would be a bigger name if he beat Andrade, Green, Lacy, Miranda, etc...

    Hey, Maxime, any idea why InterBox couldn't accommodate US TV and convince them to air the fight? The 29th of February was already allocated for basketball, or some such thing, right? So why couldn't InterBox change the date of the first optional defence to another night when US TV could have aired it? This would have gotten Green on board and there wouldn't be all this fuss...What do you think?:think

    Bute doesn't need to go anywhere near Kessler yet. But if Kessler comes back strong and picks up a belt, he will be trying to unify. If Bute isn't actively seeking to unify and avoids Kessler then, I'd be disappointed.

    There are very few dates available at the Bell Centre. Most saturday nights are not available because of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team who pretty much hold a God status here in Montreal.

    You can't move the defense earlier obviously because you need time to prepare.

    You can't move it later because it won't fit with your summer plans with Andrade and fitting two title defenses before the mandatory defense.

    There is also another promoter who's trying to make a card there (GYM with Alcine) in March or April and both promoters can't have a card there during the same month.

    I wasn't suggesting trying to move the date by more than a week forwards or backwards...but I am sure InterBox know what they are doing and have done the best they could for Lucian, under the circumstances.

    Take it easy people, the guy just got his first belt and has only 21 fights to show for. If you say that, by not fighting Kessler yet, Bute is not a true champ, well, you don't know Lucian.

    Appart from JC (44 fights ) and MK ( 39 fights ) because they have twice Bute's experience, try to find a boxer that would like to fight Bute for his belt.

    Nobody want's a piece of him because, as a pro boxer, they know they would be outclassed by Bute, that's why he ends up fighting Joppy instead of any top 10 contenders for his
