Just curious. All the people who think Dawson's shrug was illegal haven't given another method for getting the dirtiest fighter in the sport off your back.

So what do you do instead?

Do some squats and try to shake him off while not using your hands?

Fall to the ground with BHop on top of you?

Stand there and wait for the ref to do something about it with his entire weight on top of you?

    Would like to know.

do the same thing dawson did. if you stand and wait on hopkins...he will find a way to foul you on the side the ref isn't on.

first of all, you're not supposed to bend that low, it's a foul.

You gotta let him do everything he wants to you because he's an old, crafty fighter and an ex-con and can do as he pleases in the ring and still the other guy will get blamed for anything/

His shoulders were well above hip height and BHop had to go airborne to get up on him. He ducked the punch, moved a couple of inches lower during that action and was already on the way up when BHop climbed him.

Yes please explain this people. I want to know how others would react if not like Dawson did in the midst of a boxing match.

Nah, all Dawson did was duck the right hand, which he is entitled to do.

Note also that this was the second leap by Hopkins, in addition to the flagrant headbutt attempt in the first round.

Bernard knew he was outgunned and went to his back of tricks early.

Just bumping this to see if there are anymore answers. Or any answers at all for that matter. Seems that alot of people don't like what Chad did but I still haven't seen a single post anywhere stating what he should of done instead.

    Any thoughts?

I'd have gently lowered old wily Hopkins down to his feet, to allow him to then sucker punch or butt me.

I would have performed the upwards motion of a barbell squat, picked Bernard up over my head, and tossed him into the front row.

Grab his waist and turn him slightly, or back out and rise up through his arms into a clinch, or bump him before rising without lifting upwards and outwards first.

:conf I would also shove him right the **** off. I think it should be called an NC, though, as I understand the rules. But, I also don't think Dawson should be expected to let a grown man on top of him. Certainly there shouldn't be a DQ for stopping your opponent from fouling. I'm on Dawson's side for shoving him off, but also for the result getting turned over, as long as there was a legit, fight-stopping injury diagnosed, as there was, I guess.
