Just a bit of fun, to break the ice on tensions. Since many fans are waiting for FMJ to react on developement of a possible fight with Pacquiao, for the mythical crown of this era's P4P ttile. As well as his counter reaction to testing protocol and Pac's announcement of accepting his 14-days demand for blood. Make your wild guess of what'll be the meat of Floyd's statement regarding this. Mine is this: "I don't care what USADA and Conte says. Neither care on what transpired on the dates of blood testing in my last fight with Mosley. I still demand blood be extracted out of Pac and me a few hours before the fight. If Pac can't agree with that, how would i be sure it's not a fair playing field? No blood extraction on fight night on Pac and me, no fight!" Note: - USADA is the institution that do olympic style testing, they perform blood tests to athletes, unlike others who only requires urine. The testing institution that GBP and Mayweather recommends for the supposed Pac fight last march and the institution that performed the test in the Mosley fight. They recently issued a statement saying that the reason they stopped blood in their test in the Mosley fight at 18 days is because they deemed it fit that 18 days is enough for blood, but urine tests has continued atleast once every week. - Victore Conte is the famous BALCO owner who is touted as the source of challenging boxing commission to start including blood in professional boxing. He recently issued a statement saying Pac's 14-days is something the sport has to applaud about, and a good start in introducing blood test in pro boxing.
there was no reason for the topic of drug testing to be brought up before december. honestly i have only been closely following boxing for 3-4 years, and i was under the impression that the testing was seriously strict, random blood and urine right up to the fight which is what you would expect from a sport where you can get killed. i thought nobody was doing it and thats why it was rare to hear about someone testing positive, when actually its more likely that the testing is just a pile of ****. and even when they do test positive or admit to taking band substances, they are let of the hook. In my opinion Roy Jones Jnr, James Toney and Shane Mosley are in the same category as Antonio Margorito. Ali Funeka and Juilio Cesar Chavez Jnr tested positive in there last fights this year, both will box again in 2010. i can understand why people don't like the Mayweathers. Floyd snr is a former drug dealer, crook the lot. He is not an educated or articulate man but there is one thing he knows and that is boxing and on ALL boxing matters his opinion is credible. Floyd Jnr may be insisting on testing for personal gain, he may genuinely be scared of Manny, and other wrong reasons and not an attempt to clean up the sport which he claims, but if we end up with random blood testing as standard for major world title fights it is still a good thing. it would still be cleaning up the sport. the standard of performance enhancing drugs is incredible and the science that goes into creating them continues to be better than the science that goes into detecting them. to think with such a basic level of testing, and such a high level of drug, that it is not being used in boxing by a significant number of fighters would be nieve. to completely disregard the notion that certain drugs can not be beneficial a week before a fight, or cannot go undetected after 24 hours is also nieve. Am I suspicious of Manny Pacquiao after all this. Unfortunately yes. Some of the reasons for not taking random blood tests that have come from himself, his team and trainers have been alarmingly weak. His strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza has been involved in steroid scandals before, and his coach Freddie Roach has trained fighters that have tested positive for banded substances. By not taking the test it has cost him $30mil. I am not saying that Pacquiao is 100% doing anything wrong, but there is doubt on my mind and unfortunately it makes me question his achievements. i don't really understand what the argument is against Mayweather. people saying he should go by the testing of the Nevada commission, because even a die hard Pacquiao fan would agree that the level of testing is not good enough. They say why change it for this fight, why not, its the biggest fight in 20 years why not set a precedent. People are saying he has ulterior motives, it really doesn't matter if we get the right result. Pacquiao may feel weak after having blood withdrawn, but he is a PROFESIONAL athlete and he should accept that a high standard of drug testing is needed. 1)Would i rather see Mayweather vs Pacquiao with full random blood testing up to the day of the fight.....YES. 2) Would boxing be a better sport if all World title fight boxers had to undergo random testing.......YES. anyone that disagrees with the last two points.........then in the words of my mate Dan "your just another ESB **** talking ****" 14 day cut off is pointless, and no one has yet made me feel otherwise
that's great and all, but the point is, it was random...with no cut-off both fighter's have to be prepared fro testing (blood) up the the fight quite frankly, the way i see it, pac now has no reason to ask for a cut-off as USADA has been shown to not be vampires
"People are saying he has ulterior motives, it really doesn't matter if we get the right result. Pacquiao may feel weak after having blood withdrawn" why do you disagree with this??
"Because of the clamor of the fans I am going to accept the 14 day cut-off. I said 14 days previously and I am still going to honor that. For the fans. But I want 60-40 purse split this time. Mayweather-Mosley PPV is greater than Pacquiao-Clottey. I am the draw, the PPV king. I deserve a bigger purse. All roads lead to Mayweather. 60-40 split or no fight."
"Me and Maravilla will be a great fight". Now that would be awesome. I couldn't care less what happens in Pacquiao-Margarito though I'd watch it. But Mayweather-Martinez, now THAT's Sweet Science at it's best.
The fight will be made, I think their probably already in the process. Arum said he didn't want to do the negotiations through the media, which is exactly what he and Team Pac are doing, while Team Mayweather is not saying a word through the media.
