Alright we already know we have a lot of shady/corrupt people in Boxing. So, what are the steps that you would take to make it less corrupt? How would you make Boxer's accept these Boxing matches and how would you kill off politics in it? Plus how would you give Women's Boxing their fair share of mainstream TV time?
Based on current interest/support by the general public for women's boxing, I'd say they already get their fair share of TV time, which is next to none.
Create a National / International boxing commission. Boxing is as crooked as a dog's hind leg.................Wilder got ranked #3 WBC without fighting anyone even nearly ranked. How did that happen??????????$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I would get rid of promoters and just make a boxing league/ranking system like UFc has. In the UFC love it or hate it, the best fight the best, that's why a 10-0 record is so impressive. UFC has no padded records and no avoiding best opposition. There would only be one belt per weight class.
The solution is to create one GOOD boxing commission/organization which if they did things properly people would recognize as the only one worth following and making the others irrelevant.
since the HBO and Showtime are the one paying the fighters and showing the fight. Let both of them create a single promotion and sign all the fighters they like.
You could make one but boxers could choose to ignore it so it wouldn't matter. The solution is to create one GOOD boxing organization which would make the others irrelevant.
Thats what AIBA are trying to do with the WSB and the introduction of APB boxing, it aims to get the best amatuers to sign up so they wont go pro and eventually build up a strong enough group of fighters to be considered a genuine alternative to turning pro. The prospect of going pro and still been able to go to the olympics is attractive. It would work the same way as UFC it will be a fair ranking system and the best will have to fight the best, however some of the judging in the WSB has been disgracful, some of the hometown decisions you see in it are literally undefendable.
Look at Women's MMA and that's very popular. I think Kaliesha West could be the face/postergirl of Women's Boxing. In my opinion MMA as more accepting than Boxing when it comes to women. Crazy thing about it is this is a man saying these things. That's how messed up and true it is.
Agree. Some sort of higher power able to overturn really bad decisions by refs or by judges. Judges and refs getting fined or punished for bad decisions. Judges open scoring after each round so viewers and commentators can discuss scoring. That would be a start
a) 1 boxing commission b) allow replays during fights to reverse bad decisions c) force alternate venues / or no home town judges d) remove un needed weight classes. 1 welterweight, 1 middle weight, 1 flyweight, 1 heavy weight etc. . . e) offer cash incentives to fighters for knock outs / shut outs / TKO's FOTY etc. . ultimately, the sport needs a unified body, but you have to put every incentive out there to convince all the elite fighters to step on board with it. .
