Well Greb beat a lot of really good guys in three divisions, Armstrong beat less good guys in three divisions and Pep beat less good guys in two divisions, speaking very generally you understand.

Breaking these guys down in a direct comparison is difficult because there is no film of Greb. Film is Pep's strongest suit (he looks better than Armstrong).

good posts above. I happen to rate Willie Pep at # 2 p4p all time, Armstrong comes in at my # 3, and Greb is at # 6. So I share a slighlty different opinion than most on pep. Things Willie Pep have going for him is he never lost in his prime to a fighter in his weight class, He dominated a very strong featherweight era for almost a decade, he fought and cleanly beat every top ten contender out there for MANY years and ducked no one. Not many champions can lay claim to dominate in one division for a whole decade. and some of them were very good fighters like Chalky Wright, Humberto Sierra, Phil Teranova ..... He also holds the single best win out of the three with his win over ATG Sandy Saddler, and that was when Pep was past his respective prime. Throw a win over hall of famer Manuel Ortiz, multiple wins over Top black murders row Lightweight Willie Joyce and lightweight champion Demarco, a robbery loss to hall of famer heavier sammy angott(the only loss in his prime of 150 plus fights) and you got yourself an underrated resume. Also, all great champions have one final turn of the clocks at old age right? Well Willie Pep nearly pulled a duran-barkley by outboxing talented Linear champion Hogan Kid Bassey for 9 rounds at age 36 before sucumbbing to a knockout at the end. Pep modest about his performance said "Kid had me all the way"..Then of course we factor in the head to head factor based on film footage. Pep to me looks like the greatest technical boxer we haver seen grace the ring. At his best at his weight, I dont think there is a man throughout history who could outbox Willie Pep.

    Greb-superior resume and reputation
    Armstrong-beats Pep H2H IMO
Pep-has a claim of being higher than armstrong and in the top 5, just a remarkable boxer.

Interesting opinion. Are you saying You believe armstrong at 126lb beats Pep? If so, Very neat opinion and I can see why you believe armstrong may possess a tough stylistic matchup for Pep with his swarming, but I still see Pep outboxing and outmanueving armstrong popping in and out, fast 4-5 punch combinations then back out of range...Pep has the footwork to prevent armstrong from trapping him.

    Armstrong
    Greb
    Pep

Could easily see the top two being switched, but Pep's resume and achievements puts him clearly below the other two IMO.

I see Pep having terrific success early in fight. But, Armstrong was tough as nails and relentless is his prime he would hunt down Pep all night and would give absolutely no room to breath from rounds 5 onward. Pep didn't like guys who crowded him and attacked him constantly. Plus, with a guy like Henry pushing his head into Pep's chest all-night I don't see Pep having the energy nor workrate down the stretch to either survive or convince the judges to award him a decision.

My head tells me Armstrong UD 15, my heart tells me Armstrong gets him out of there in 12.

Pep on top, then Armstrong and Greb. Or Greb above armstrong. Pep is oversahdowed by others for some reason, maybe because he was featherweight.

Armstrong, because Pep couldn't have outboxed him, and Armstrong would have been pouring it on. Then Pep because Greb is more of an unknown quantity.

All three are all-time greats and belong in the top 20.
