I was very unimpressed with Hrgovic when he fought Zheng earlier this year. He was slow and one dimensional. C+ for me.
I need one or two more fights on the level he just stepped up to. I sincerely believe his father' death took something out of him.
He withstood Zheng Zs shots going down only once over 10 rounds. He's an animal offensively but that chin was either cracked by a murderous puncher or he was exposed. Time will tell
B-, but the division is so bad that he rates a little higher for all practical purposes. Not impressed by him.
People keep forgetting that Zhang was a silver Olympian, 6'6 and 276 lbs, strong as a bear, knows how to box and would put most boxers to sleep, Hrgovic will look better in the next fight I'm sure of that...
Agree, he could have done better and he does have it in him. Just didn't seem to turn up for that fight.
I rate him A- on basis Zhang could be lot tougher than people think. I want to see Zhang in with Joshua. Better him than a pick like Big peds Miller.
I'll be generous to rate him B- only, as he tends to go C+. The excuse Zhang is a silver medal Olympian boxer means nothing because he fought nobody as professional. Zhang a decent boxer especially for his age, maybe could've been even better, but it is what it is.
When he first turned pro, I was optimistic about his chances but even before the Zhang fight I started to have my doubts. He simply hasn't progressed at all as a fighter since turning pro. You watch his early pro fights and his recent pro fights and he's exactly the same fighter, the only new thing he's shown me is he can move a bit better than I thought against Zhang. Compare Fury's early fights to his fights now or Joshua's early fights to his recent fights the difference is dramatic, Hrgovic in contrast much like Yoka hasn't progressed. I'd say he's a B- to a B+ right now. What he does he does well, but he still has big holes in his make up as a fighter and with guys like Usyk and Fury on top need more than he has to get to the top. His lack of head movement, his lack of an inside game, his predictable attacks which are heavily reliant on his right hand and lack of a more versatile jab will limit his progress if he can't improve in these areas. He's probably good enough to pick up a title if the titles splinter but I don't see him ever being the number 1 guy unless he makes some changes. I see him being on the level of someone like Joseph Parker, ability but not the complete skill set required to make the best of his ability.
