Yup, that will always be a problem, unfortunately. But in many cases, you can still spot a fighter being at his best even if he is being out-done by the brilliance of his opponent. Their movement, speed, snap in punches, etc, can still be noticeable.
He has a better jab and is a better puncher, but their defense is more or less the same, I think. Hatton's speed, energy, footwork, cutting off the ring, etc, was far better. A smaller guy would find him a lot harder to deal with.
I would rate it above all of Pac victories at 140 or above. I would in fact put him at number 4* P4P, one place above donaire put one below JMM.
Hard one to judge that. Mosley was considered as having seen his best days. Margarito was seen as unstoppable. Big upset. I'll have a think
Yeah, Marg was coming off a huge victory over Miguel. The main criticisms, and they're hard to ignore, are of course: - Marg's mental state - Marg making weight - Handwrap issues They're more solid than anything you can bash Rios for. I'd say Gamboa's win would be better.
Hard to disagree with that. You could argue though that the Cotto victory alone could balance out any of the points above :conf
hell yes. gamboa coming up two weight classes and beating rios the very tough fighter is a massive win. That's what P4P is. I predicted pac to beat cotto and it was easy to see they are similar in a way but pac's just all round the better version it was one of my much easier fights to predict. Plus cotto was at a catchweight that takes a touch of credit away. Giving the gamboa win over rios the extra edge to be seen as a better win. I notice a lot of people rate pac's win over oscar but i rate they extremely little. That was not the oscar i know in the ring that night.

its a big win no matter what for gamboa because hes moving up in weight. if everything goes all right wit rios makin weight which it should because they must be strongly confident he can make weight if there taking this fight. because sense hes going to be fighting a smaller if he doesnt make weight it will ruin everything assuming all goes well an gamboa wins in good fashion with a knock out this win its huge. alot of people comparing it to pac and cotto. well if gamboa just beats him in a close fight then its not really a better win. if he knocks him out in impressive fashion then it could be better win then pac over cotto. im not a huge pac fan but i give that win alot of credit. that was a huge win an looked great doing it. it makes it even better because he was really getting exposure and he came through for fans with a knock out n put a stamp on who truly is the better man
if the weight didn't matter then why would pac even bother asking for it, obvious him and roach feel it will benefit them. Cotto wasn't at his best in that fight he wasn't training with his father or steward or his new trainer he was training with Joe Santiago i think is the worst trainer out of the list. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/nov/13/trainers-scuffle-pacquiao-v-cotto-weigh-/ Read this and see how important the 145 weight is to roach and how serious he was about it. It without a doubt means a lot to roach and pac and how the fight goes on. Roach has been saying all week leading up to the fight that if cotto comes in even the slightest over the 145 limit the fight is off. Cotto was physically and athletically better pre the margarito fight and he's more skillful and technical and more polished now than he was in the pacquiao fight and he's fighter at a higher weight were he looks stronger and more comfortable now and is number 1 in the division at the 154 champion. Rios is arguably the strongest in his division and has a iron chin and a awesome work rate all things cotto is not when he was in the 147 division. He is young and unbeaten and has a great trainer and has hired a conditioning coach and a nutritionist to prepare for the fight, these are all experts in there field monitoring rios and making his body adjust to the weight and be at very best i expect rios to be completely fine at the weight. When ever i have seen boxers go to these measure to prepare for a fight they have always shown it is worth it and it shows in the performance and there fitness and there physic. examples: jmm vs pac, pac vs cotto, margarito, etc, Khan vs maidana showed what a conditioning coach can do for you.
