Had some big wins, Schmeling, Carnera,Schaff. And some bad losses Braddock. He fought very dirty in the Schmeling bout and was enabled by an indifferent referee. In the Carnera fight Carnera broke his ankle in a nutshell and could not put any weight on the back foot. Causing him to fall repeatedly. Big man for his day, and no denying he had a huge right hand. He had a great chin as well. He was however sloppy and had lapses in concentration if fight wasn't going his way. Had a pretty good prime run after his back to back losses early in career to Uzcudun and Risko. Put together some nice wins en route to the title and then the inexplicable stinker against Braddock. And the misfortune of running into a Joe Louis on a night when Louis could of beaten anyone who ever lived. I rate Schmeling higher than Baer but Baer would be dangerous against most heavies who ever got into he ring.
