Personally I think Ball's boxing skills seems to be overlooked and he's one of the more skilled come forward fighters right now IMO. Very good punch selection, doesn't aimlessly plod forward, never runs out of steam, and an underrated ring IQ. He does seem to have defensive liability and also vulnerable to body shots. Still it's quite astonishing that for such a short fighter he's a hard man to deal with, especially how he managed to beat Raymond Ford in a close fight. I would even say that he would give Inoue some issues should they meet in the future. Very entertaining fighter to watch.
I actually think his skills have regressed. He used a lot more varied footwork and head movement in his bout against Lowe, for example. I think he's realised he can just overpower and outwork people so sometimes he neglects his technical ability somewhat.
Generally nick,s balls are very very tough ! He takes body shots without crying on the canvas and is generally a very skilled athlete that is a joy to watch and be a fan of . On top he is explosive , fights often and represents what boxing sport should be ! I,m a big fan of him !
Ball won convincingly but Goodman made it competitive. Wouldn't say that was a poor performance at all. It was a very good fight by both men.
Full fight of Ball vs Goodman already uploaded. Very good showing from both guys. Ball is seriously fun to watch. This content is protected
I agree. In his last fight, he looked flat. Fighters who are buzz saws when they are younger can wear out. Nick showed early signs of that in his last fight. He is the type of fighter who tends to overwhelm the competition. His skillset is not that good but he works harder than his opponents. In my opinion, you can tell every time he is about to go on the offensive. I think he would be KO'd against someone as skilled as Inoue. But the one thing Nick has going for him is his size against Inoue. Goodman is a powderpuff but even he got Nick's attention at times. I actually thought that was a much closer fight than two of the cards reflected. I hate the way British fighters get home-cooked cards and then afterwards, even though the commentators had been saying the whole fight they weren't sure who was winning, they give a **** and bull story as to how Nick dominated most of the fight. In Australia, Goodman would have gotten the nod.
Ball looked poor against Goodman, but still ground out the win like a champion is meant to, especially in the championship rounds. The Ball that fought Ford showed how skilled he is; he's not just a brawler, because he'd have lost to Ford convincingly if he were so one-dimensional, but his tenacity is the best part of his game.
Well Ball is not exactly a defensive genius and he was up against a previously unbeaten opponent who is a pretty good boxer himself.
Goodman was very underrated as not too many outside of Australia had seen him before. He was a very good amateur good skillset, fast and tough just lacking power. When he first turned pro I thought his style was to amateurish to go very far but he adapted and improved a lot over the last couple of years.
