Its so close, I would not want to guess. I would say Akinwande is last. Maybe Smith would be first.

I would put them in this order
    1. McCall- has knockouts over good fighters like Awkinwande and Maskaev, and a knockout over a great like Lewis, his overhand right could end a fight in a heartbeat.

    2. Douglas- his knockout over a prime Tyson alone helps to rank him high, but he also had power in both hands with an 80' plus inch reach.

    3. Bone Crusher- One of the heavyhitters of the 80's, didnt mind standing in there to take a punch to give one.

    4. Rahman- His overhand right can be nightmare for anyone, Lewis, Meehan, and even Corrie Sanders were all victims too it. I would also like to point out during his second fight with Tua he hurt him with a punch after the bell.

    5. Awkinwande- Not known as a huge puncher, but solid none the less. I dont too much about him, other than his fights with Lewis and McCall.

Smith- The one thing Smith could do is hit hard.

Hassim Rahman- Lewis and Sanders found out first hand. Tua was dropped as well.

McCall- has to be able to do something besides take a punch.

    Douglas- Real crisp puncher

Akinwande- Is right there with Douglas

actually putting smith up there as the hardest puncher makes alot of sense, i think marvis frazier or jose ribalta said that smith hits harder then tyson and tyson has to hit at least as hard as any of the other 4.

1.Bonecrusher Smith (possibly the hardest puncher of the 80s)
    2. Oliver McCall

    3. Douglas, Rahman and Akinwande

Smith or Rahman tied for first. Either man could deal some serious damage if they landed with their rights. I might slightly lean towards Smith for his knockouts of Witherspoon and Bruno and his brutal dropping of Razor Ruddock, but Rahman has that concussive one punch KO of Lewis on his resume. Call Lewis chinny however much you want, but no one was ever able to take him out like that.

McCall would be my second pick. Dropped Lewis hard, and generally hurt anyone he could land on consistently. Not quite the power demon of the above two though.

Douglas: hard, sharp puncher with great combinations when he was on his game. A more dangerous fighter than the above, but not necessarily a harder one punch hitter.

Akinwande. Decent power but hard to rank him above anyone but Douglas.

McCall , Akinwande , Rahman and Smith close 2 each other and I m not sure myself how 2 sort them in sense of punching power ,
then comes Douglas whom stopped Mike Williams, a good fighter of his time besides of being Tyson's worst tormentor in his professional career up 2 that point

Akinwande floored Lewis, KOd Maurice Harris, stopped Jeremy Williams and put McCall on de floor in what was ruled a slip and might had been so.

edit : I guess , based on de 2 Maskaev fights that Rahman should b below McCall,Akinwande&Smith, not det I sink det Maskaev woz chinny, he just had opponents from hell.

Bonecrusher by far the biggest puncher ... the rest are all pretty interchangeable ... all decent hitters ...
