Before his bout against Guillermo Rigondeaux , I was not fully sure on how to rate his jab. However, after seeing how Lomachenko totally out-jabbed Rigondeaux silly, I was forced to rate his jab at worst, A level.

No other boxer even came close to landing as many jabs (or any other punch for that matter) on Rigondeaux, as the amount of jabs Lomachenko landed on Rigondeaux.

His bout against Rigondeaux was where he showcased his jab, more than in any other pro bout he has had so far. And it appeared to be a tactical decision from team Lomachenko to utilize this jabbing gameplan, SPECIFICALLY against Rigondeaux. Maybe because Rigondeaux was MOST vulnerable to that tactic? Who knows!

You can make excuses for Rigondeaux's age and his inferior size. But let's be honest! That fight wasn't even close! Alexander Povetkin was far older and even smaller, compared to Anthony Joshua than Rigondeaux was compared to Lomachenko. Yet, Povetkin against Joshua, still managed to win more rounds, was able to inflict more damage and was able to perform better until his age showed in the form of declined durability and endurance. Whilst the younger Rigondeaux with less size disadvantage against Lomachenko, won no rounds, inflicted no damage, was TOTALLY ineffective and quit.

So why couldn't Rigondeaux perform better, at least in the first few rounds, when age wasn't as much of a factor, considering he is a fellow 2 time Olympic gold medalist and considering his style is less dependent on young age than Povetkin's style is? Obviously, the answer was because Lomachenko was too good and Rigondeaux's age wouldn't have mattered because at no point was Rigondeaux AT ALL effective or successful during their bout.

Going back to Lomachenko's jab, he is one of, if not the most dexterous boxer today with his hands. Which is why even when he throws more than one jab at a time, he is able to seemingly generate equal power on each jab as if they were all his first jab. He can throw double, triple and sometimes even quadruple jabs and seemingly throw them all with equal power.

On top of that, his technique is very sound and flawless. He is a master at using the jab to close the distance, especially against taller opponents. He is also a master at using the jab whilst on the move, be it side to side, whilst moving forward or whilst moving backwards.

Another point I'd like to highlight is that Lomachenko's jab is also very versatile. He can use the jab in various different ways. He can jab with power, or he can probe lightly. He constantly varies the speed and power of his jabs. Via probing, the lead hand also allows him to set his punches up by forcing his opponents out of position and allows him to get a feel of what they are going to do before they even do it.

And because he is naturally right handed (in truth, he's probably ambidextrous), his lead hand / jab has more power than the jab of an average boxer.

So although Lomachenko doesn't rely on the jab too much like other specialists do, because he doesn't need to, but when called for it, it's proven to be one of the best jabs in boxing today. Especially for a short / small boxer. And even in a historical sense, it's one of the best jabs I've ever seen on a boxer with short reach.

Lomachenko's jab has improved a lot since his early pro days. In fact, I think his jab was the weakest technical part of his game in the amateurs and early in his pro career, with his footwork being his strongest side. But Loma and his father are perfectionists and they are always working on the improvements. Now he has a very good jab. One of the best in current boxing.

It’s simply a matter of southpaw vs southpaw. Against an orthodox fighter the jab isn’t as relevant. That’s why we see it shine against GRJ, Rigo, Selimov.

That’s not true at all, look at his jab against southpaws Selimov and Toledo.

I'm not saying it was bad. All I'm saying it wasn't on the same level as it is now.

Imo he has the best jab I've seen from a Southpaw since sweet pea. I think only Crawford and GGG have better jabs RN.

Very, very good versatile jab. Offence, defence, creative, probe he's got it all and incorporated with his great footwork it really works for him as he conceals footwork with his lead hand/jab.

The jab sets up everything and Loma constantly has it in opponents faces.

I have to be honest, I didn't even really rate his jab because I was in awe of all the other stuff he was doing. On reflection, yes, he has a top shelf jab. And its not even his best weapon.

Average to abve average. He's a poor man's version of The Money Man .If May is ten out of ten, Loma is like five or.six as an overall fighter and talent

Lomachenko's jab is incredible. Not in the same sense that Golovkin's jab is—thudding and brutal—but it's equally as effective. Lomachenko's jab is the Swiss Army knife of jabs—range finder, rhythm disruption, distance management, and blinding tool.

    I'd bang Lomachenko's jab.
