Age and amateur background makes any comparison irrelevant honestly.

It's either a five or six depending on how highly you rate people like Stiverne, Duhaupas etc.

I think he's got a couple of solid names on his resume, including Washington and Duhaupas, and Stiverne was top ten and WBC champ at the time Wilder beat him first go round. Szpilka wasn't a bad scalp either. Scott would be a good win if it wasn't a dive. Unfortunately that takes a lot of mental gymnastics to justify.

Other than that he's got a lot of way past prime names clogging up his resume, including Lyakhovich, Arreola and Harrison. None of those wins are really worth anything.

Guys like Firtha and Molina are strict journeymen.

We all know his record is garbage. Stiverne is possibly his best win and even that is debatable as Stiverne only beat Arreola for the title and looked like garbage against Rossy. It's possible Wilder has never faced a top 10 fighter. Hell Bellew arguably has a better win at heavyweight.

I honestly think that Wilder has the resume of a good contender for the title. The sort of resume a guy would have to become mandatory. It's not that bad. OK, as champion his resume sucks balls, but viewed objectively without the context, he's got a top 5 resume at heavy right now.

For an Alabama club fighter, I would say 9/10. For someone who's meant to be a world.class heavyweight champion 3/10.

Pretty poor really. Since beating Stiverne it's been filled with lower level dudes who he ought to have been fighting before he got a title shot. For that many fights, his age and the fact he was an Olympian it's even worse. But if he beats Ortiz, that's a properly legit win and should be recognised as such

Pretty damn bad. When talking about titlists and who's the among the worst of this or that there is always somebody worse. Wilder has the zero with some quantity but he has not fought anyone outside of Bermane Stiverne and a few top 20 guys, which is laughable for a HW titlist of several years. Ortiz is his first legit high ranked opponent. Lets see how Wilder does. I'm probably picking King Kong in this one.

Sad for Wilder that in a debate class, I'd probably want to be given Canelo's side.

Just pulled it up and, ya know, pretty true. Great post, haha.

For a guy that had 20-25 fight looking to fight for a title, in the 3rd or 4th year as a pro he'd have a 7-8 out of ten resume, for a guy with 40 fights, in the 10th year of his pro career and with 6 title defenses it's a 3-4 at best.

It took Wlad 10 years and over 50 fights to get his second top 10 win. And that came against Byrd in 2006 who was then shot to absolute bits.

#9 rated Jason MaCline was only top 10 ranker Wlad beat and he was no better than the French baker.

Wilder has about the same quality of record now as Wlad did at the same juncture. :icon_cafe:

Wilder has a very good resume. He has fought many guys, I think the number is 38, who are technically superior to him and he's beaten all of them.
