I like it just because hell get a bit more known with uk people make fights a bit easier to hype with degale groves and maybe froch
Solid comeback opponent. To be honest, any fight would be acceptable after such a long layoff. I also heard that there is no title on the line, so perhaps it's possible that this fight takes place north of 168 (only a speculation).
STFU dummy! Or retire?? Like you run something. dude gonna fight for another 7-10 years so keep watching.
A poor attempt at trying to mislead the boxing public. I'm pretty certain he could have found a Smith level opponent within walking distance of his gym, but they will try and big up the comeback and legitimise the quality of opponent by telling us how Smith is coming off two World Title fights. I have no problem with him taking an easy option after the layoff, but choosing Smith is yet more of the Ward hype and bull****.
Terrible match up, which highlights to me what I have felt for a while that SMW is not as strong as it was a decade or so ago. I dont think P Smith would have got far at British level in the late 90s, but in this era gets 3 world title shots in a row. Watch Smiths fights against Degale and Groves. On a plus side its good that Ward is back in the ring, but its a shame he is not in a stronger era to test his skills
Smith will get outclassed but he'll always come to fight and give ward a good workout for as long as it lasts.... Might even catch ward cold early on due to the ring rust Shame I won't be watchin it, With it been my wedding day
Hmmm...I suspect you mean DeGale, but aside from Froch (who's close to retirement) all the others are Haymon guys so there may be some issues given that Andre is signed with Roc. Smith (or Periban) are pretty much what were to be expected for Wards comeback - Smith especially since he's been in a recent title fight, and should make for an OK tune-up, but TBH my sense is that Paul Smith is pretty much done (and was never really that good anyway). If his brother Callum continues in his winning ways he could possibly make a reasonable opponent for Ward down the line tho.
Smith isn't anything special but I don't think much was expected being Ward has fought once in 2-3 years. I just want to see Ward get this out of the way and get onto bigger things. Being this is on BET and not HBO, Showtime, etc and with Ward's inactivity I don't see a problem with this fight.
I thought Ward would take it easy in his first fight back. Why is he fighting a violent monster like Smith Jr?
Why? Because he fought Ward or because he beat a Bute leftover who's now 13-5? Rodriguez is domestic level at best. Though I reckon he'd still beat Smith. It's a very poor fight.
