One of the more overlooked fights of the 80s with Howard Davis Jr and Vilomar Fernandez, who just came off a win over Alexis Arguello two fights ago. Very nice display of boxing with some good action from both fighters. Highly underrated scrap. This content is protected
Poor Howard Davis was in the wrong era. He should be around now, in an era where a bum like Broner is winning titles in four divisions.
Howard Davis was very talented but he wasn't all that dedicated and I think he would have struggled in any era, including today. Davis should have lost this fight against Fernandez IMO.
Bump. This is one of the rare fights where 2 defensive pure boxers actually make a highly entertaining fight.
I always loved this fight. Vilomar is so awkward yet so effective. (Not just in this fight.) Not the kind of guy you fear, but one you absolutely HATE to fight. Impossible to look good against him.
