DESPITE a busy year on the US circuit, Andy Lee will be back in an Irish ring in May -- almost certainly in Limerick and possibly against Guyana's Howard Eastman. The cagey London-based middleweight gave John Duddy a close fight in Belfast just before Christmas, losing a 94-96 decision which he claimed should have been the other way round. Nothing is definite just yet, however, as Lee's 2008 programme has more twists and turns than a winding staircase. full story: http://www.independent.ie/sport/oth...ined-up-for-lees-next-irish-date-1282587.html
Lee is looking busy...not quite Sugar Ray Robinson busy, but a lot busier than most fighters these days.
Oh Lord! This guy is making fights left and right! This is the 3rd Andy Lee board I've posted on within 10 minutes, what's with his growing popularity today? ... A fight with Eastman would be an ok fight, but Eastman is getting older so a victory won't be as significant. This would most definetely check Andy's chin, which I don't think is as concrete as John Duddy's is...but that's nothing defense can't take care of.
Yeah this isn't like beating Eastman 5 years ago but this is still a solid win for an up and coming fighter.
Eastman has stopped giving a **** about boxing, the name will look good on Lees record but I won't read too much into a win even if Lee blows Eastman away.
Still a good win for a rookie though GazOC, he is clearly past it but by no means a mug, nice learning curve fight.
