It would be good if the board actually introduced coaching of officials, there's people like Christodoulou, Cortez or even Richard Steele that could definitely come to our aid in that respect.

Even football referees have started improving here, not sure who's in charge but I've been pleasantly surprised lately.

 

He had his hands full in that fight. I dont mind him actually but what annoyed me more was someone thought it wise to put a microphone on him.
And he called the boxers by their surnames. "Stop holding Hopkins" "Step back Pascal" It was like being back at school.

I think Ritchie Davies just commands respect when he's in the ring. I haven't seen much nonsense when he's refereeing. He's one of the best we've got.

I wouldn't bring Cortez in to coach our refs! He is a diabolical ref. Wants to be a superstar too much, and does not let any fight flow naturally. Plus he taps and slaps the fighters far too much. Am surprised someone hasn't sparked the twat out by now

 

I just think Cortez has an instinct, to know when a man has had enough..... or to let someone go on.

Look at the first and third Holyfield vs Bowe fights.... Hatton vs Floyd, Kirkland recently.

That's the main bother with them, the stoppages. In terms of breaking the action up they're alright, most of them don't take any **** either.

If not Cortez, Mickey Vann maybe.....

 

Micky vann, now you're talking! I suppose you're right about the stoppage for hatton, although I think even foster would have got that one right!

A ref commanding respect and saying 'break' is 10x better than a ref diving in and trying to ply apart two fighters. Thats just messy and how a fight degenerates.

 

Foster and Davies are both world class referees.

Everyone makes mistakes and Howard doesn't make many. Thankfully when he does, he errs on the side of caution and the chaps can fight again.

Better far too early than a second too late.

Ian John is the best wefewee in the souf! It was an absolute scandal that he was allowed to referee the Zack Page vs Tom "Slow slower slowest" Dallas. And the amount of ridiculous decisions he's handed out sickens me. Howard Foster is one of the best we have to offer although he can be a bit biased at times. At least he gives a fighter a chance to fight again with his early stoppages, unlike Lewis with that Shannon Briggs fight where Shannon could've died if he wasn't such a hard ****.

 

You are talking about the symptoms rather than the root problem. Howard Foster is just another ref. There are many more British refs that will step in and stop the fight when the 'favored' fighter throws a few combinations. The system is rotten and corrupt.

 

There are plenty of examples to back you up, granted. But absolutely no way is the whole system 'rotten and corrupt'.

 

Cant be much worse than Dave 'On the Payroll' Pariss. Now that dude so corrupt he makes Cortez look good.

 

At the time I thought the stoppage was terrible but watching it over and over it seems like Maxwell was going to get ****ed good and proper there, hands were up but no strength to stop the punches. Probably should have let it go on a few seconds but the board are terrified of fighters getting knocked out nowadays, they don't want to see it. Hope to see a rematch.
