Do matchroom have a say in who refs a fight or is it down to BBBofC?

Shambles again last night. Couldn't get Periban out of there quick enough last night & done his best to do the same with Quiggs opponent also.

He's a joke. Really needs to stop getting gigs as a ref as he's clearly not upto the job.

Why he didn't give Periban a count I don't know, waved it off too early.

Hearn is going to want Brook in a big fight over here next year. If I was a fighter coming to the UK I would kick up a big stink to ensure that clown was not the ref.

Why talking about Howard Foster when the real talk should be about 'Terrible' Terry O'Connor?! :blood

What's with that guy trying to save Cleverly's ass so obviously? Again last night coming in with a scorecard that was close to impossible seeing how the fight went. Is he still trying to make amends for scoring the first Bellew fight a draw (wich was actually the best card of that night imo)?

I think some of you are only looking at the negatives here, yes he waved it off too early last night, but it was special from Degale and he would have stopped him properly in that round regardless.

In the Quigg fight, he didnt wave it off, he got the qualified doctors to look at it. Do you really want to see more and more fighters end up like Murray with just one eye?

Yes, it was too early, but in non title fights why put the future living of a fighter at risk? When Periban is older and he can still speak and have a memory I am sure he will thank Howard Foster and other refs in the back of his mind

Perhaps if Periban turned up in shape he would not have gone down so easily. Howard Foster is a top official who takes care of the boxers in front of him, shall we get Terry O'Connor is in charge of all fights instead??? There will be a few hopsital visits if that is the case.

The argument that refs stop the fights because they are concerned for the safety of the fighters is total rubbish. They allow the home fighters to take a beating, look at Burns vs Beltran, Terry O'Connor carrying a semi-conscious Cleverly back to his corner, Ian John-Lewis allowing Vitali to beat Shannon Briggs half to death, when Foster stopped Groves, Groves was nowhere near as hurt as Froch was in the first yet Froch was allowed to continue. Put it this way, if Degale had gone down like that then there is no way in hell Foster would have waved it off.

British refs are not the most safety concerned, they are often a disgrace and some the most corrupt in the World, they do what they get paid off to do by the promoters - which is stop the away fighter at the first possible opportunity and if the home guy is taking a beating, do everything you can to let him survive to the cards so the other guy can get screwed that way.

mate quiggs opponent is miles behind punches are weak and has a terrible cut
Dégagé could have seriously hurt that guy had he been allowed to continue to hit him we've had too many incidents in the ring lately we don't need anymore but you will know better

No disrespect Billy but you wouldn't have agreed if the ref had stopped the fight with Beltran when Ricky was clearly badly injured. Credit to him for roughing it out but there is no chance Foster would have let him.

Foster refuses to let fighters fight back when in trouble. Do you think Castillo Corrales should have been stopped earlier Billy?
