He had the potential to be Undisputed Champ. Think Lennox Lewis with faster hands.

He was probably the greatest heavyweight amateur boxer. But, there is no telling how he would have done in the pros, he may have been great, he may not have been. But, im sure he would have been a contender at the very least.

Soon as he stepped up to fighting grown men, he would have gotten owned.

Savon, Milian, Balado and the great Stevenson, all of then had the potential to b great, we don't know because you can have all the talent of the world and not be dedicate, so it would had been off to them, the talent was there to spare, and about Bernie's comments, all the Cuban starts win their gold medal at a very early age, from 18-21 years old, if the country would have prof sports i'm sure they would not stay so long in the amateurs, but as it is they have to, because a least they can go to another country and buy things that you take it for granted, like a pair of jeans or underwears, the proof is that more and more are defecting, coaches, baseball players, etc.. stop that myth about Cuban boxers fighting kids, they were 16 years old before they got to 30.
PS. And before 1959 we had Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilan, Black Bill, Benny Paret, Luis m. Rodriguez, Jose Legra, Ultiminio Ramos, NiƱo Valdes, Florentino Fernadez, Mantequilla Napoles and so on, oh back in those days it was only one Champ and not as much divisions they were doing in it long before other countries.

Like Ike, crazy overrated. He would have been a Top 10 Heavy...but he didn't have the power to affect Lennox and the other top tier heavies.
