If spinks had been up in the heavy s in the 70 s ?
    Young
    Shavers
    Quarry
    Bugner
    Lyle
    ????
A few tough names there for the jinx. Could he defeat any is the question ?

He'd have a chance against the one's listed

I can actually see him beating shavers in a shut out .His style gives shavers trouble from the first .Bugner ,depending on his mood could be out pointed. Lyle is a tough one , he could rough up spinks ,take him out of his game .Quarry's counter punching and fighting heart could see him with a win
Young may be all wrong for Michael ,I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a decision here. That's my take anyhow.

Yeah those picks are plausible. I could see Spinks being too elusive for Lyle to get the drop on because Spinks wouldn't stand there and try to out muscle Lyle. He'd be constantly moving and countering. I think Spinks/Quarry could end up being as close as Patterson/Quarry although I don't believe Spinks would stand toe to toe as much as Patterson did.

None of the above were really "better" fighters than Michael Spinks. I mean, if they were natural light heavies with the same skill level, would you say that they were better than M. Spinks?

The question would be if Spinks would have the physicality to hang tough with them. At 200-212 pounds, it's plausible. Some LHW's have the physicality to successfully transition to heavy and beat a lot of top rated heavies. I'd pick Ezzard Charles at 185 pounds to beat all of the above listed. I'd give Archie Moore a little better chance to beat them than I would Spinks (tentatively).
