In a recent interview Hoy said he is down to 145 already. So much for him having trouble making weight. http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=foxsports&vid=79e667c2-ead0-4968-ba1b-5318baa893ac
Never believe what comes out of a fighters mouth in regards to where their weight is at during training. If DLH was at anywhere close to Welter right now almost a month to go for fight night, he'd be not only overtrained, but taking away his biggest advantage he has going for him against Pacquiao. DLH should be well above 150 lbs about now.....he'll have to dehydrate in the days leading to the weigh-in, drink lots of electrolyte fluids after weighing in and come in fighttime as a Middleweight! That he weighs 145 lbs is nonsense!
You may be right. I must say though just looking at him he lookes like he's lost a significant amount of weight; He's much skinnier now than he was at the same time b4 the Floyd fight, for example.
I don't believe he's just 145...unless he really tried to weight it at public. It just a boast to tell people he is actually able to weight that low. And for once I agree with you divac, weighting lower so early is a bad habit. Should only lower your weight by less 2 weeks notice....
DLH has never been anything more than a natural Welterweight (ableit a pretty big one), I don't really get the surprise.
De La Hoya is a liar. This proves it. If anyone believes he is 145 now 3 weeks before the weigh-in then they are complete idiots.
I don't know if DLH is telling the truth or not but i think it could be a good thing for him if he weighs 145 right now. I know some of you are saying he will dehydrate in the days leading up to the fight and then hydrate back up after the weigh in and come in as a middleweight but i believe that Pac would win this way. The abuse DLH's body would take boiling down to 147 in the days leading up to the fight i felt would severely deplete his already questionable stanima and if Manny could ride out the first half of the fight then DLH would tire badly and Manny could take over in the second half of the fight. However if DLH is on weight now then his body will be used to the 147 limit and he won't have to boil down to 147 in the days leading up to the fight so his stanima will not be effected. Obviously if he is infact around 147 now he wont come into the ring on fight night as heavy as he would have if he had had to dehydrate himself in the days prior to the fight but he should still be bigger than Pac. I actually gave Pac a decent shot at winning as i thought DLH would be badly weight drained but if Oscar really is 145 or there abouts now then i think this will drastically lower Mannys chances of victory.
Oscar said he was walking around at 147 for the Forbes fight. He weighed in at 150. So yeah he's a liar.
Oscar De La Hoya is a Legend. Legend's do not lie. Well, apart for all the other Legends who are not called Oscar De La Hoya. :blood
