This is from a site that has NEWS about FIGHTs:

Fight to be telecast during a “Free HBO weekend!”

FightNews has been informed that former IBF super featherweight champion Steve Forbes has been selected to fight Oscar De La Hoya in the first of three “Farewell” fights that the “Golden Boy” has proposed for 2008. Forbes, the former IBF super featherweight champion and runner-up in Season Two of The Contender was chosen over IBF jr welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi and WBA #3 ranked lightweight Dmitriy Salita. Forbes will face De La Hoya on May 3rd at a catch weight of approximately 150 pounds, which - ironically - was the same weight limit for the participants in Season Two of The Contender. Forbes contested the first part of his career at 130-pounds but his speed and ring generalship have allowed him to successfully compete at jr welter and welterweight. In his last fight, Forbes – weighing 142 pounds - manhandled former hotshot Francisco Bojado en route to win a split decision back in October 2007. Although five foot-seven and half inches, Forbes fights “tall” with exception hand speed and reflexes. De La Hoya is the bigger man at five foot-ten and half inches, but the matador style of De La Hoya should provide an interesting counterpoint to the sharp shooting skills of the veteran Forbes. Golden Boy Promotions will officially announce the De La Hoya vs. Forbes contest this week. HBO will telecast the De La Hoya-Forbes fight during a “Free HBO weekend!”

This is rediculous....I honestly suspect a joke or poor reporting or something cause if its true this is just about the most ******ed thing I have ever read.

If you go off of Forbes last twp performances, this could make for a very entertaining fight.

If this match gets made it will be very interesting to see how much money Forbes makes. It's funny.. all these name guys chasing around DLH to get a piece of the money pie and then all of a sudden a contender fighter gets it. Oscar should fight Margarito as a tune-up instead of Forbes, because it's not a difficult fight and Margarito is still considered a top welter. A win would be impressive to the average HBO viewer or casual boxing fan.

Forbes KO1, I hope.. anything to stop Mayweather-DLH II. ****, how great would that be? On regular HBO in front of millions. Jack Prescott would be laughing until the day he dies.

yeah and certainly help to increase buys for his fight with PBF.

And what was it that he paid Campus like 40k or something?

Let us all pray he gets made to look a fool.

Funny if Forbes uses Jeff Mayweather as his trainer and Oscar uses Floyd Sr.

I don't get the outrage...its a TUNE UP fight. Oscar is promising to fight 3 times this year...3 times!!! The purpose of this fight is for him to stay active so he has a better chance against Mayweather...Forbes will give him some rounds, I'm sure he'll knock him out in the 8th or 9th and he'll say "Mayweather is going to get a hurting in September" after the fight and we'll all be convinced he can beat little Floyd.

Forbes get his justice by getting the big payday at Oscar.

    Agreed about PBF-Cotto.
