Hasegawa wanted to continue but it was probably better not to let it go on. Jhonny is a killer.

What now for Hozumi? He's like Gonzalez a couple of years back when he lost to Nishioka. Move to a different division? Down one maybe and challenge Shimoda? Unfortunately Hasegawa slowed down considerably and his open defense requires quickness and sharp reflexes, neither he seem to have anymore. Maybe the best thing would be retirement. Beautiful career.

Enjoyed the two fights I watched. Missed Nishioka's fight.

Beautiful shot from Gonzalez, looked like he was punching to the body but switched to the head. Good stoppage by the ref.

Exactly. It was a pretty clear shutout through three. Gonzalez had been trying to find full extension on his right hand and Hasegawa had done a good job denying it to him. All it took was one.

Hasegawa literally can't afford a moment's lapse in concentration when up against big punchers, because luck is not on his side in those moments.

Sounds like he was dominating the fight, B. Retirement may be a stretch.

    "That's it"?

He came back from the Montiel KO when people wrote him off (moved up a weight, picked up a nice win and got ranked) ; wtf makes you think he can't come back from this?

No worries, BE. Gonzalez don't want no part of Nishioka again. :|

He was. It was exactly like the Montiel fight; with the exception that this was literally a one-punch KO while Montiel had to land a bunch of power for the stoppage.

    Jhonny is a beast!!! :ibutt

Strangely enough, that was the most competitive throughout.

The one where the odds were 1/100 against 16/1. :patsch

and who was the opponent he faced to get himself ranked? some unproven prospect?

He can come back sure...but thats it for him at the elite level in this weight class.

He's had a great career no doubt. Dont think he should taking much more punishment. There's no doubt in my mind that he could win another title.. but it's not worth it.

As for Gonzalez.. Personally I'd LOVE to see him against another Japanese hero of mine, Satoshi Hosono. He's been on a winning streak since his close loss to Poonsawat. I'd love to see that fight happening.

Good fight. So sad to see Hasegawa going down again.
