Interestingly enough Johnny Gonzalez is Hasegawa's mandatory.:D

Before this fight I was wondering who Hozumi should fight next and, honestly, Gonzalez' was the name that came to mind. It's probably too soon for him to fight JuanMa/Gamboa/John, so who better than a popular, entertaining and vulnerable guy like Jhonny?

I love this fight. Seems the sanctioning bodies have accidentaly done something right.

have watched the fight in tv here and it was a brutal fight where hasegawa was cut badly in the right eye (i think it was from the clash of heads) and face swollen and so was his tall and lanky opponent. hasegawa does not look as good but have done enough to win. he is eating a lot of shots and was hit one time by a beautiful uppercut that almost floored him but regained his balance. he was fighting with a huge heart, support of the crowd and in memory of his mother i think who's picture was held by one of the person in the crowd.

Koizumi must be getting old. He said Burgos got some championship rounds.

I saw nothing in the last three rounds that would have made me give Burgos a point. Hasegawa was at his most active in the final three even.

OK, I wound up giving up on viewing this live (obviously) and am just watching it now with no knowledge of the result.

3 rounds in, Hozumi looks pretty good. He's standing in the middle of the ring and protecting his turf with a fast right jab, then bobbing and launching left hands to the body that both score and sting. He only gives ground when Burgos wades in with long volleys of power punches, which Hasegawa slips and sidesteps to quickly get back on the offensive before Burgos can reset. His defense is pretty good for the most part, but largely reliant on reflex and therefore not 100% foolproof. He'll alternately duck and jerk his left shoulder back to shrink himself as a target, causing Burgos to miss most of his straight right hands although the Mexican (who looks like a lightweight in with a bantamweight) does connect cleanly with a couple. Hasegawa's chin at featherweight doesn't appear to be a concern as he stands up to them well, although they halt him momentarily.

Near the end of the 3rd Hasegawa hurts Burgos with a sequence of punches over the last half minute, ducking a pair of uppercuts to fire left crosses to the face and then opening up when Burgos backs off, pursuing with a vicious 1-2 repeated several times with some right hooks to the body mixed in.

That uppercut Hozumi took in Round 7, my god that almost lifted him off the floor. It looked like something from Street Fighter, amazing that he took it and managed to recover. Great stuff.

I thought Burgos won the 11th, but it was close. Hozumi almost stole it at the end.

    This was a GREAT fight.

It's just too bad that the internet boxing fraternity got black-and-blue-balled on being able to see it live.

GTFO of Japan, Hozumi! :fire Come fight on American TV (or at least Mexican).

i was amazed with hozumi's balance. one of the best recoveries from being almost knock-downed to standin-up once again.

Scored rounds 1, 7 and 11 for Burgos cleanly. Round 12 you can make a case for both fighters. The decision was about right, Hozumi was just more effective but got caught with some meaty uppercuts and clean hooks throughout.

sounds about right. got some good body shots and big fighting heart. punches wide to often that was easily evaded by burgos. probably his power was not as evident at the new weight and imo, would lose to the other 126 champions.
