Hrgovic has the best chin in the Heavyweight division and the least power of anyone in the top 10

Hrgovic and Joseph Parker have about the same level of power I'd say.

I'll repeat a post I just made on another thread:

To some degree, though, Hrgovic's lack of power comes from laziness and arm punching. I am not saying that he is a huge puncher, but he would do better if he committed more with his left. That straight right can't exist in a vacuum, and he should be using the jab to set it up, rather than than just to score points. He should also be trying to mix in a few meaningful hooks.

He actually did a little better than usual last night, but again, you could see, whenever he got things going, he reverted to the arm punching.

Like a lot of EE's with extensive amateur careers, he's stuck in the amateurs.

When Hrgovic puts full power into his right hand he can punch pretty hard but most of his shots are arm punches. He hits harder than many think when he sits down on his right hand but he's clearly not the puncher he was cracked up to be. As I've said before, I believe he could improve his power with the right S&C programme and by not throwing so many arm punches

I wouldn't say he has the lowest power, there are fighters with less power, but it must be admitted that his power is at an average level...

Some of the shots Adeleye landed there would put down an elephant, Hrgovic’s chin is geniunely insane.

There's some speculation that he's an illegitimate son of Vitali from way back when Vitali was an amateur.

I consider Hrgovic underrated ever since he lost to Dubois. He is a pretty good boxer as well. Most of his issues are pretty fixable imo.

One of the best chins I've ever seen, but I feel like it will get cracked soon. Adeleye hurt him worse than Zhang and Dubois did. He didn't see those left hooks coming.

    Bingo.

    Chin A++
    Power C-
    Stamina D

Durable gatekeeper - but there's no path to beating almost anyone good because he gasses too fast to be difficult to beat on cards and doesn't hit hard enough for even the minimum level chin required at top levels.

I'd give him a little more credit for his technical ability as he has a very good one-two, he was outboxing Dubois before the cut got bad enough. But yeah, he has pretty glaring flaws at the same time especially how prone he is to cuts and of course his stamina although I think his stamina is slowly improving at the same time.

His power? Yeah its nothing amazing to be honest, I think its probably close to Parker's possibly and Parker isn't really known for being a powerful dude.

    Maybe... Or at least theoretically...

The problem is, personality and IQ (not ring IQ) are part of the equation.

It's all very well to say theoretically Hrgovic has issues that are fixable - it should be possible to train him to put more into his punches, it should be possible to get him fitter and improve his stamina... Or even just one or the other...

The problem is, these have been known issues for a while and neither seems to have been improved upon.

That suggests there's something that's preventing progress - it could be that he's actually not fully confident of his chin... He should be, but it might be he's more afraid of getting hit than he should be, and that might be why he doesn't commit like he could/should?

Or maybe he's just not motivated to train as hard as he should on stamina, or not mentally able to accept that losing a bit of bulk and getting quicker and lighter might fix the stamina and make him more competitive as a light punching points fighter?

Or maybe its choosing what he wants to be (or having a trainer who wants to commit him to one or the other) or being able to commit to it...

    Who knows...

But what I'm seeing is a fighter with limitations that have been obvious for a while, and who hasn't shown obvious signs of fixing them - and that might be for good reason.

Sure he's technically not too bad, it's just that stamina is so poor that he needs to almost pitch a shutout before he gasses if he's going to get close on cards... And he's just not that good.

As I've said before, for me he'd probably be better off losing some mass and giving up on power - durable but mediocre powered heavies who can rack up points can be effective at the top end of the division, it did just fine for Fury and it does just fine for Parker.

The problem is, ego prevents a lot of guys from committing to fight that way - most of them are used to being the biggest and scariest guy in the room, and the idea of training to be an athlete instead of the scariest guy possible often doesn't appeal to them.

His two negatives are short arms and poor stamina. His two plus points are great chin and a facial resemblance to Jack Dempsey.
