Hrgovic got beaten by Dubois after round 5 because of 3 reasons Arogance - underestimating Dubois fromthe previous fights against him Terrible gas tank - fight of the lifetime and you show up for 5 rounds Dubois illegal headbuts - but he could have doged that if he had the skill, no excuse But before round 5 he was winning on the scorecards and was landing consistently with high volume on Dubois, after that Dubois took over, and made Hrgovic bleed soo much, the judge took him out. Joshua, 2x champ, top 2-3 fighters by everyone, was said to put Dubois out in first round by people here Joshua was dominated by Dubois from the first second, no nothing, no resistance whatsoever
I said it in another thread, this is the worst Joshua I have seen since he won a title, Hrgovic beats this version of Joshua and he's not the only one in the top 10 that would. Christ the way he was leaving himself wide open to shots, I wouldn't right off Chisora beating him now, which sounds crazy given Chisora's age and decline. But damn that OH right he was dropped in round 1 reminded me of a Chisora OH right, clearly the influence of Don Charles in Dubois' corner there.
I mean that is what chuds said after Wilder got pummeled by everybody, but it is what it is. One thing here I didnt mention is Joshuas age, and glory - what is Dubois name on his CV, what is that IBF belt on his legacy compared to Doubois situation, you have a hungry, young and now proven fighter Joshua made the same mistake as Hrgovic, he underestimated the young blood
Hrgovic went to visit his newborn child a few days before the fight and did not even train, and this unpreparedness cost him, but he still left a better impression than Joshua and saw the end of the fight on his feet. Hrgovic's chin is a big plus in boxing, and Joshua does not have a good chin, against a big hitter it is very important to have a decent chin, I hope that my countryman will come back and show respect to his opponents in the future.
There difference between Wilder and Joshua's decline. Wilder at 38 is old, Joshua at 35 is not old for modern heavyweights, not prime but not past it either. I do not think Joshua is shot at all, he's just been complacent and been allowed to regress due to not facing a good opponent in over two years. He's relearned bad defensive habits he had previously addressed because he's been facing such poor opposition and been able to get away with it and once he stepped up again got exposed. It's the same reason Hrgovic has failed to live up to the early hype. At one point I had Hrgovic as the best prospect and an obvious future champion, but then he fought nobody after nobody and regressed. He's literally worse now than when he turned pro as at least as an amateur he was regularly facing the best in the world. Both Hrgovic and Joshua are prime examples of capable fighters, regressing due to terrible matchmaking. Both can turn it around if they do what Parker did, fight regularly and step up the opposition incrementally and don't just fight easy fight after easy fight because that comes at a price. You get good by beating good fighters by being tested not by having glorified sparring sessions as fights.
I notice people do this alot after fights and start comparing results Styles make fights. No two fights are the same. It can be misleading to do this Lerena knocked Dubois down. It doesn't mean that would happen every time if they fought again. It doesn't mean that I would rate Lerena above Joshua Different fights have different things happen
Hrgovic performance looks much better now in retrospect considering he landed a lot more powershot that were cleaner than AJs. Dubois has got a solid chin. I don't think AJ chin is especially terrible. Its not Hrgovic level but its AJs terrible recovery powers. He doesnt recover well from taking heavyshots. He can take a hard punch but then needs time to recover, way more than other people. Wlad knocked him down hard yet he got up quick but took quite a few rounds off to recover. Dillian hit him hard with his powerful left hook and AJ took a couple rounds off after it. Ruiz knocked him down several times in fight 1 and AJ just couldn't recover saying to his team "ay why am I feeling like this" in the corner each time.
Well, Serge keeps getting proven right again and again and again. I told you guys LONG AGO that Hrgovic has the best chin in the division And you guys were like ''but he ain't fought no one'' And Serge was like ''He fought loads of top SHWs in the amateurs/WSB and I've seen him take bombs from many big punchers and he's one of the few SHWs who was never dropped or stopped and many of the SHWs he fought did drop or stop the top pro HWs of today. And he's also sparred many of the biggest punchers of all time in Wlad, Haye, The Dosser and Dubois and none of them could put a dent in him'' And you guys were like ''we don't believe you Serge even though you're always right'' And I was like ''Yeah, yeah.. Did you not see him eat 12 rounds of sickening flush bombs from that way bigger and heavier murderous punching big sexy Chinese man? Did you not see him eat countless flush bombs from the murderous punching Dubois and almost as many billy goat butts?'' If Hrgovic had the ref for AJ vs Dubois the later would've been DQ'd. Prove me wrong?
