Because Hrgovic is #1, the rules state that the purse bid split has to be in his favour. The only way Ruiz can get more than 40% is if they negotiate.

There's no reason to suggest that Hrgovic wouldn't be willing to take the short end of the money against Ruiz, but simply there were no negotiations for this fight because Ruiz understandably wants to fight Wilder.

The IBF just stuck to their rules and the whole thing was entirely predictable from day 1.

I get that. But he said Parker ducked him too, because he wouldn’t accept the lower end of the split.

They go straight to purse which tells me they want to fight a bum and cash out in a world title mandatory. Which is fair enough if that’s their goal. If they thought they could beat the likes of Parker or Ruiz they agree they are the B side and try and make the fight happen

LOL Ruiz defeated a HW champ, arguably beat Parker a HW contender, beat Arreola a HW contender, beat Ortiz a multiple HW contender.
Hrgovic defeated...a fat Chinese hype job, and barely at that. So he should be the A side? Stop it, please.

Good reply, I'll explain how I see it. I think both Parker and Ruiz have/had obviously better options so I don't think the fight was ever realistic. I'm a Parker fan as you can see from my avatar, but I certainly wouldn't advise him to take the Hrgovic fight even at 80/20 split to him.

I see no reason to doubt that Hrgovic's team are willing to accept B side status and try to make the fight. Going straight to the purse bid will be because both teams know the fight won't happen and the quicker the prices gets to someone who might be willing to negotiate, the better.

It would be far more money and exposure than fighting a can. He did fight Zhang who is dangerous and who Joyce is getting pause for fighting next, so I don't think he's looking to crush cans and then cash out.

Boy, the IBF is really going out of its way for Hrgovic.

Andy Ruiz is a former IBF champion. He and Hrgovic are the top two heavyweights listed in their ratings.

Why should the IBF get involved in the purse splits at all?

They "really" want Hrgovic to be their next champion.

The cancellation of the bid means Wilder-Ruiz is next.

Going down the IBF rankings next(after Ruiz) is Wilder who we assume is going to say no to fight Ruiz, then AJ who I put as a....maybe? Its a dangerous but winnable fight for him and would get him a title back. After that its Bakole who I would think would jump at this opportunity.

I never said he should be A side ? I said Hrgvic would beat him in a fight easily. You guys always like to go back to that Joshua fight to hype Ruiz to hell but joshua losing says more about joshua than it does Ruiz. Hrgovic sucks but he is all wrong for Ruiz, as is anyone who can jab and move. Ruiz is trash

Not that it matters. Ruiz turned down the offer.

The WBC still had The Dosser ranked #1 after he was coming off brutal albeit delicious back to back stoppage/KO defeats in his own backyard. Let that sink in.

And they bent over backwards rigging their rankings with trash cans for him to bowl over to ensure he kept ahold of that belt and keep the gravy train running for as long as possible.

He fought trash to earn his shot

Fought one of the weakest HW champs in history to win the belt

And they fed him trash to ensure he kept it for as long as possible

And if that wasn't bad enough they, as said, kept him ranked #1 after he'd been knocked out in back to back fights so he could secure another shot at their belt ASAP

Sure Hrgovic's competition has been weak but it's not his fault they have to keep going up and down the rankings over and over again to try and find someone who wants a guaranteed title shot for beating a hype job who lost to a Chinese pensioner.

Hrgovic would beat Fat Andy into walrus meat but if Andy doesn't want free title shot for beating up a bum why not let that Dosser from Tuscaloosa step up to the plate instead seeing as he's next in line? I'm sure Hrgovic won't mind beating him up again like he did to a 28 y/o 28-0 version of him in the gym when he was still a bambino amateur who was years away from turning pro

From what I have seen I’d have to respectfully disagree.

Ruiz would beat him comfortably in my opinion. I also thought Zhang did enough too.

He shouldn’t be anywhere near a world title after the Zhang fight.

I do agree Ruiz is overhyped post AJ 1, definitely in terms of his power. I still think his hand speed would win him enough rounds to win a comfortable UD

I don’t think Wilder would take a 40% split vs someone the public hasn’t heard of.

Hrgovic will earn his mandatory against a bum as they go down the order, as no one with any commercial value will take the lower part of the split. He will get his title shot and the payday and that will be it. In my opinion anyway

The funny thing is Hrgovic would be his best win in 47 fights if he fought and beat him. People will say the two weeks shy of his 39th birthday Ortiz is a better one but I'm confident Hrgovic would Knock Ortiz's ass out and he'd do the same to The Dosser's second best one Stiverne too and the later would stand zero chance.

40% for Ruiz was a sham. Not surprised he walked.

Andy Ruiz seems to be a free agent now. PBC have let him go. With both Ruiz and Wilder free agents now I don't see that fight happening.
