His issue ATM and a fair share of people have criticised it a bit IMO is that he is fighting journeymen every six months whereby each fight lasts a round or two but he has so much time on his side so probably has the benefit of the doubt to some extent.

F*** knows why but he is somehow already ranked 2nd with the WBO, 8th with the IBF, and 3rd with the WBA. Just by beating McKean?! Total madness.

Croatian should destroy him, hopefully ruin him for good.
But we know how the 'prospect game' works.
A good opponent might be Pulev's brother, who has the name but is a cruiserweight.

Why would Big Frank offer Hrgovic a lifeline by signing him to his stable and then throw him in with Itauma if he had his best interests at heart? He would not be sticking Itauma in there with him unless he felt confident he would beat him. It's a stupid high risk low reward fight for Hrgovic and one which if he were to lose would be a massive setback for him when he is only one fight removed from a big setback against Dubois and his career has already been terribly mismanaged as it is.

Even though it would be a huge step up for Itauma, I think they consider Hrgovic as vulnerable, not looking greet physically or mentally, and ultimately as food for Itauma and Hrgovic needs to understand that's the only reason they would even consider making the fight now not because they have his best interests at heart. They should be looking for established names for Hrgovic to fight. Mentally he hasn't seemed right or like his heart is fully in the game for a while now.

As I said before Itauma should either be very active knocking out a few stiffs then stepping up in a learning development fight.

Or just take more risks and forget the filler and start challenging top 15 Heavyweights or low tier top 10 Heavyweights.

His last fight was his best win of his career against a top 30 Heavyweight the issue is he's been inactive for 6 months since that fight and it only lasted 1 round which is baffling.

So why isn't he being active ? And why is he wasting time with a fight against a nobody that does nothing for his career.

I've made the comparisons to Tyson's early career before but I think he had it right. He had 28 fights in 2 years staying active knocking out alot of cans but had some respectable opponents inbetween that tested him like Tillis. And he ended up winning a title in that 2 year period.

I'm not saying Itauma should exactly replicate Tyson's timeline but boxers today are far too inactive for my liking.

Totally agree, for a 20 year old to sit around on his arse for 6 months in a division that's ripe for a fresh face is pitiful. At a glance he has some serious abilities but he also has the deficiencies of a guy with limited experience that would be exposed if he doesn't hone his craft inside the ring I don't know if it's him or his management team but something had better change or he'll be another ,what if story.

Itauma would probably win but I dont think his handlers want to move him up so fast and risk losing

Yesterday in classic we were talking about Jack Johnson fighting Langford at 20 then using it as a license to duck him later. This could be something like that.

At the same time... Is there a risk in not normalising the possibility of losing?

Dubois lost several times while young and kept going well - Joshua, Fury and Wilder had long spells unbeaten and took their losses badly.

Maybe there's something to be said for just taking the good fights and accepting losses as part of life...

Or maybe that's just a perspective only a fan could take.

agree 100%. Never rated Hrgovic and dont see why people rave about him. One dimensional, not particularly powerful, lacks heart and has built a rep on hammering 3rd raters (apart from zhang)...........oh, and too many rabbit punches
