If there is good money involved, Chisora will 100% fight Zhang. Chisora would fight a saber tooth tiger if there were commercial viability. All up to Eddie now
He is not the talent people thought he was. However, he made for great viewing for all the wrong reasons, I couldn't take my eyes off the fight for all of the walk offs, rapid combinations, baptism of fire and tremendous clash of styles. It was a great watch but I doubt Usyk even has this guy on his radar.
I'm sold on Hrgovic. Great chin. Great combos. Great power. Great size. Can box and punch. Can trade and get on his bike. Not a big clincher. He always keeps punching, so he steals rounds from guys who spend too much time looking for openings. He seems like he'll have a much more successful career than the two guys who finished ahead of him at the 2016 Games - Joyce and Yoka. Although he's speaking in a second language, Hrgovic also took great pains to show his personality postfight by talking about his wife and also admitting he was behind in the fight until he stepped it up in the second half. It took a while for him to get to 15-0, but he'll be tough for "anyone" in the division to beat for a very long time. Seems like he's the heir apparent. He won me over.
If he doesn’t fix some of his deficiencies, Flip Hamburger will be flipping hamburgers before he’s 35.
He was definitely exposed last night in my view. Struggled defensively and with concentration. Seemed only to fight in spurts. Didn't really seem to have any game plan. And worst of all reacted badly to any pressure from Zhang - cannot fight 9n the back foot. Will need to improve massively to get a title.
I did the first thread on this site for the guy, and even I said he was being overhyped. He was a decent amateur but not an incredible one, but as a pro, he's never really impressed me, and you could see just how badly he was regressing on a fight by fight basis. So my support for him has always been reluctant, rooted in hope more than anything tangible that I've ever seen. Even the match against Tom Little sent up red flags for me, but after the KJ and Heredia matches, I started slowly preparing my dismount from the skittish last car on the conductor less runaway Hrgovic hype train. After seeing how shoddy his defense is, and how eroded his skills had become during the Molina fight, I did a swan dive backflip right the **** off of it. I was this close to picking Zhang for the upset the other day, which had nothing to do with how great I think Zhang is, because I think he's subpar too (I even picked Forrest to beat him). But merely rooted in how lackluster I find Filip. Jalolov and Makhmudov I find equally underwhelming. So don't be shocked when they end up looking like absolute dog****. However.... I've inexplicably never lost faith in the riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, that is Joe Joyce. But... the man continues to exceed everyone's expectations now doesn't he?
Whatever happened to Mendoza? The Dubblechin of Hrgovic fans? Personally felt Hrgovic lost that fight yesterday and got a gift. He will be sparked out cold and out of boxing by the first elite fighter he faces.
I checked his Baidu page and couldn't find anything, but I will look intensely for it later. I've been able to find a few fights in his amateur career after some time that I originally wasn't able to. (Like his win over Dychko, and a full video of his first Olympic loss). I'll try to find it today.
Did anyone else think Zhang won that fight, particularly with the knock down? They both need better stamina.
Rewatched the fight. Scored it 116-113 for Hrgovic. Without the commentary and halo effect of the first round I could give it to him with clear conscience, although it was way closer than I expected. Much respect to Zhang.
Theres a definite level of people underestimating Zhang here also, Guy was an elite level amateur who has shown he can hit as hard as pretty much any pro out there right now.
Yup But the Saudis clearly had influence over the outcome of fights. It was a showcase for Muslim fighters, They even gave the nod to Jack over Rivera which was another bad call earlier in the night, not to mention the 4 minute round! Lol So, given China's treatment of Sunni practicing Uighur, is it any surprise that the Chinese fighter got jobbed on the cards in Saudi Arabia the centre of Sunni Islam?
