I'm a fan of both who went into the fight thinking Kovalev would win and was p4p #1 at the time. Ward won the fight. It was a close fight, but he won.
You can say what you want, but no American star fighting a foreigner is going to lose close rounds as long as Glenn Trowbridge, Burt Clements and John McKaie are around.
I said going in it would be a close fight and never said Kovalev would be easy work for Ward. Ward is good but he's not PBF. The fight was close and could have gone either way. Ward got the nod get over it. Neither Ward's or Kovalev's stock dropped after that fight and I hope we get a rematch in the near future.
And it is a saying that holds no ground when it comes to judging. It´s just something the fans moan about. The idea of "taking it" from a champ comes from the idea of not getting screwed over by the judges.
They dont care about the integrity of the sport, as long as their guy won that is all that matters. Didnt you hear? Throwing and landing more punches does not matter anymore,it is all about circling the ring and surviving that counts.
We know he won and butt hurt in these forums can last for years. These long-winded, regurgitated threads just don't die.
like f1 why do all cars not have the same engine , handling , on bard computers etc etc they are at the front and have that advantage you know like Floyd always fighting in vegas
Terrible that Kovalev lost his belts, actually whilst I thought Kovalev won I still thought it was very close,I'd like to know who judged the Frampton v Cruz fight as they judged it perfectly with the more quality work from Frampton,in a boxing match I'd like to believe the judges are neutral and would favour the guy who was looking to box as appose to what happened from round three onwards,I couldn't believe my eyes when Ward just got up from his corner and just rushed head on into Kovalev across the ring like he was still buzzed from the knock down,in the rematch they need to concentrate on genuine inside work and dismiss the prolonged wrestling as its a boxing match not a wrestling match?
I tell you what though everyone, the judging in this fight will seem very fair compared to Canelo and his GB promotion paid judges, the problem is with corruption is once the judges are in Oscars pockets they're essentially in the pocket of GB and vice versa,it's a totally corrupt example of how corruption works and everyone involved or just on the scene are all tied to each other. Hope I'm wrong but that Mayweather judge who had a draw after twelve rounds of perfection from Floyd against a bigger man left swinging through the air all night is a good example of a paid corrupt judge and we've seen the scores in other fights before he gets the KO?
