Can you mention past fights where 2 fighters that were the best punchers in their division faced each other? please don't mention Lucas Matthysse vs Danny garcia
Not really professor, it's just that i've seen that fight mentioned here lots of times with them called the biggest punchers and what not :good
Julian Jackson vs. Gerald McClellan. Not only the two best punchers in their division, but, arguably two of the hardest punchers of all time. Their first fight was a war.
Lennox v Tyson Marciano v Louis As it's been said time and time again, power is the last thing to go.
Just among active fighters: Kazuto Ioka vs. Akira Yaegashi, 105 pound WBC/WBA unification... Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Diego Corrales, 130 pounds... I don't know why TS says we can't mention it, but Danny Garcia vs. Lucas Matthysse, 140 pounds... Rigondeaux isn't known for being the most powerful of his division, but in the end he almost certainly is. Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Nonito Donaire, 122 pounds... Takashi Uchiyama vs. Juan Carlos Salgado, 130 pounds... We may not all have quite known it at the time, but perhaps Marco Huck vs. Denis Lebedev, cruiserweight... I think arguments could be made that both of the Kessler vs. Froch fights apply here...
Except that Hearns had never fought anyone of note at Middleweight before. For all intents and purposes it was his debut at the weight. He had a couple fights technically at MW, slightly above the JMW limit, but not against anyone which would warrant his name being placed as a "top 2 puncher in the division."
David Tua Vs Ike Ibeabuchi Not only two of the hardest punchers in HW division but they set a compubox record in number of punches thrown per round and fight distance. Strickly Toe-to-Toe action from round 1 to 12.
Why of the handful of fights that I listed did you choose the Floyd fight to quote and make a big deal about? I was trying to think if any of the big name active future HOF'ers (Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hopkins, Marquez, Wladimir...) had any fights that apply here. That was the best I came up with, and unlike you that is my opinion. Can you name any that are closer to applying among the current aged future HOF'ers? Back to your point... Please come back into this thread and answer my next question. Or anyone who agrees with this poster, answer for him. Who, prior to January of 2001 when Floyd and Corrales fought, had Freitas fought and beaten which showcased his power more so than the opposition that Floyd had fought at 130? Genaro and Manfredy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all of Freitas' pre-2001 opposition So, yeah. Do you still feel that way? You are allowed to your opinion, just as I am mine. My post was clearly not worth you whining in disagreement because you don't like my opinion (which is not even slightly controversial and would probably be more supported than your own).
