    :patsch:patsch:patsch

You never cease to amaze me. Every title defense = title won. Once a fighter enters that ring the title is no longer his. It's up for grabs.

    What?
Thats nonsense, defending a title you've already won doesn't mean you re-win it again you just simply defend it.

Hell no it doesn't. I've NEVER heard that, only on Hughes official website have I heard that title defences count as winning 'new' titles.

Its horse**** made up to make his career sound even more impressive. I've never in my life heard anyone refer to someones title defences count as winning new titles.
Did Joe Louis win 25 titles?
Was Muhammad Ali a 3 time HW champion with 19 defences? Or did he win 19 titles :rofl

What ****ing imbecility. You win titles by moving up and down weight classes or losing a title and winning it back again, you don't re-win your title every time you defend it, you just defend it!

It clearly ****ing says 9 title fights, not 9 different titles, so it really doesn't matter what defines winning a title

You do get a new belt each time, but again, I clearly said 9 title fights.

    Keep laughing though, its hillarious.

Well on Matt Hughes website he's says he's won 9 titles. Which IS bull****.

Hughes and GSP are both great. My instinct says that GSP has his digits, and my heart goes along with that pick. Matt has had his (deserved) fifteen minutes of crossover stardom - George has held a strap but is due for his piece of flagship status.

Semantics. What really counts the time he was a champion on different accasions or how many times he won title fights?

The problem with saying Hughes is a '9 time Champ' is that it implies that he beat a champion 9 times. He didn't. Did he win the Welterweight Title when he beat Gracie or Riggs? No. He succesfully defended it.

    No, he didn't.

If you count those fights, which were not for the title, its 11 times.

Most oft repeated bull**** in MMA. BJ won about a minute and a half of the first round and lost every other second of that fight. Did he "gas" after a minute and a half? Come on. He lost to Hughes because he gassed/had a broken rib, but that was after two full rounds. GSP stuffed his takedowns and took him down repeatedly and won that fight because he was the better fighter. Not by much, but the better fighter. **** all this "he gassed" crap.

exactly....being a pro at this point in his career and steadily gassing out doesn't qualify as an excuse.....it tells me he's a lazy ****head....does he think he could beat Hughes or GSP in the first round and have an easy time doing it. not to mention other fights in his career where he has gassed out....sorry that excuse has been worn out.
