It seems that Matt Hughes is in a really rough spot in his series, I wonder if his team will make a comeback. I think its almost unlikely but I have been surprised before. I do however think Hughes will probably destroy Serra in the end. I am also pretty sure GSP would destroy Serra in a match up at anytime. I really do think Serra lucked out on his title shot. Like I said I have been wrong before, and this sport is full of surprises....
I don't think Hughes will make the same mistake as he did last time against GSP. I mean he has beat him before. Hughes shouldn't have stood with him and I think that if he takes him to the ground he will definitely have a better chance.
I don't think Hughes ever intends to fight guys standing up.. GSP is a guy that isn't easy to take down, when you attempt to take him down you take some risks of either being stuffed and winding up in an inferior position, or taking shots as you attempt.. Hughes was tentative and overly cautious.
I read an article posted on ufc.com where hughes was saying he tried to stand with him and that was his mistake. I did notice how cautious he was though.
Everything Matt Hughes does....GSP "seems" to do better now. I really don't think Hughes CAN take GSP down and keep him on his back, I don't think any welter can. Serra? Serra is a different story all together. Hughes is going to manhandle him, GNP the **** out of him and eventually the fight will be stopped.
I am going to have money money on hughes for both fights, no doubt he will destroy Serra, with GSP it will be a bit of a risk. I don't know if I just want hughes to win or if I actually believe he can. I watched the Serra vs. GSP fight and I would say Serra out punched him for sure. Serra handles Gsp very well considering how much bigger he is....
As much as I hope I'm dead wrong, Hughes should beat Serra down big time. If he loses to Serra, he should retire on the spot. That might be a good idea even if he wins because I don't see him beating GSP. GSP already totally handled him and then totally handled a much better wrestler in Kos.
Hughes should win, but I think Serra will make it a good fight, he'll try to keep it on his feet and make Hughes strike. Serra isn't easy to take down so Hughes should have his hands full.
