Please don't call them jabs. Let's describe them as what they are: pathetic taps. A jab is at the very least a range finder for more powerful punch, usually a point scoring deterrent and in the best fighters an offensive weapon in its own right. For Hughie it's none of the above.

Given how Tyson is such an obnoxious rude *******, it was good to see ---anyone-- in that fury camp lose. A LOSS has soiled their record!!!! (even if only by association). lol

and those crude Fury assholes are having to deal with that loss and realize those two are not going to rule the division like the K bros did. Not even remotely close to the same level of talent, dedication to training, and professionalism in and outside of the ring

    You LOST, Fury crew!!!

    I LOVE it!!!!

A good comeback/ redemption fight for Hughie would be baby Williams

I pick Williams to KO "The Hugh-ster".

His jab varies between quite useful and quite embarrassing. But the big mistake he makes is he rarely follows it up with anything.

It might take AJ a while to catch Hughie. But when he did he would absolutely wreck him.

Against Parker (and previous fights) Hughie was turning his jabs into back hands often, especially when the jab was slipped. They are not only not scored, but illegal... yet people were scoring them and making out he was outboxing Parker by doing so.

    This is good.

Hughie needs to fight more often, he has lost too much time. He needs to be active.................

When Hughie switched to southpaw, his right hand jab was often a back hand/back fist strike as you mentioned. Joesph paused a little and reset his targets when Hughie went southpaw but Hughie wasnt comfortable enough to stay in the unnatural stance as he had already felt Josephs power and he knew he had to be at his defensive best.

Anyway back hands/slaps/fist is illegal in boxing and the ref must've seen the punch as a flicked jab...

Of course he'd get credit for something like that. Don't be so precious.

Criticisms are just. There was simply very little to praise about his performance. Hughie nullified Joe to large degree due to not engaging with him, same way Malik Scott 'nullified' Luis Ortiz. You don't win fights like that; you just get to say you reached the finishing line.

Hughie might improve somewhat but his power is never going to get better unless he radically rehauls his style. Even then it's unlikely isn't going to be much of a factor. He's just not a natural puncher. Guys who have it show it by now.

if he tries to win vs a good puncher he may die.

That's clearly BS, Parker never out-jabbed Hughie and he certainly never landed that many power-shots.

Fair enough. Compubox have 2 operators at ringside that record punch activity. Not everyone agrees with Compubox. It doesnt account for defence obviously.

    Agree.
IMO he should have had a point off or two - if he fights outside of the UK away fom his refs he is going to have problems doing those back hands. I wonder if anyone counted how many of those he threw?
