    This.

He's just there to survive and cash the check.

    Incredible people don't see that.

Guy is the tool of his family.

When he's in the ring, the only question is if his opponent has been paid to take a dive or not.

Hughie is cashing out early possibly, the way he gets hit so much he's headed for long term damage if he tries to fight until Povetkin's age, why not cash out, take any fights Hearn feeds him to for the $$$ then retire by age 25/26, start a business, whatever...

but sadly these guys rarely do that and fight on until their durable chin gets shattered and they become Highlite Reel KO Victims over and over...

His problem is his trainer. Peter is no nonsense, yes but he's also a family man and he just wants to see his so do well. But I don't think it helps with fixing his flaws. I think Peter sees what he wants to in hughie rather than what's there.

Hughie could do what Tyson Fury is doing, fight and look great against Professional Cab Drivers and pad his record for years with little risk of damaging his whiskers... I hear there's hundreds of Bosnian Cab Drivers who box part-time more than willing to fly to London, I'm certain David Haye has a phone-book full of their numbers he could let Hughie borrow!!

Haye would be best to SELL those names to Fury, as David most likely could use the money.

    I said this ages ago.

There were some die hard fans on here, and even now, the die hard are still saying "but, but he is only 24"

Nah bruv, he's done. Long way to go if he ever wants to achieve something of note.

    Interesting take.

I do know that people don't like being pushed. Whatever direction you push them in, they'll hate it and want to go the opposite.

Not 100% convinced that's what's happening here with Peter and Hughie, but it's an interesting take.

I see its more Peter wanting the championship ,this guy was teaching his son to box straight out the crib. I have boxing background on both sides of my family and all were undefeated when boxing ,my moms brothers were trained by a very old J.Walcott at very young age, ( he took a different path ) one brother was a great trainer in PAL and worked with Bowe at age 13/14 he was Marine champion ...my Father was 19 and 0, the point to this is you have to want to fight, Hughie has genetics to do it he is only 24 but hes going to have to look hard and does he want to fight back for 12 rnds?

I have a older sibling who was by far much better boxer then me genetically ( WAS ) In fact he hit me the hardest weighing a mere 140 and I took shots from 200 plus guys who fought Wilder. The point here is we were both guided away from fighting but the desire has to be there ( we could have done worse things considering family history ) I wish we were encouraged but I know when I see a parent pushing a son more then the son pushes himself .

I'm encouraging my own son to fight in MMA turning around 15 now I didn't have that in any sports ( wrestled my 6th grade gym teacher /wrestling coach to a draw at age 12.) But I know I will pull the plug as soon as im the one wanting to be in there more then he does, I also know im going to be tougher on him then Peter is with Hughie...I think that's the problem right there and you see the mentality difference between Tyson and Hughie look at the fathers, who is more crazy ? Its not Hughies fault he has the calmer /smarter father but ...the role of the dice and Tyson bring 6'9 really gave him the edge over Hughie himself.

Agreed. Bulking up is useless if you don't know how to transfer your weight. Wilder is only 215-220 and punches harder than almost anyone due to how much spite he puts into his shots. Hughie's the opposite. He just tries to touch people in order to score points. That's not going to change if he suddenly starts weighing 250lbs.

People said this with Denis Boytsov as well back in the day and I knew he wasn't going anywhere. You either have it or you don't. Age is a non-factor in the discussion.

I look at Hughie similar to that of Broner; reasonably skilled but just doesn’t have it in him to throw enough punches and grit out a win against decent opposition. They’re two fighters I will always bet against when they’re facing decent opposition
