The Povetkin fight was the one where he just had to win and he failed, he never looked like winning.

 

Povetkin ranked 7 by the ring when Hughie fought him. Joseph Parker was ranked 3rd and WBO heavyweight champion. Case closed.

Hammer, Rudenko and Wach all have better wins than Dubois and fought better opponents. Dubois best wins are Trevor Bryan 'Don Kings last hope' and Nathan Gorman who turned out to be just not very good. Apart from that his record his padded with Z-level Fujimoto types and the ghost of Kevin Johnson. Not to mention the utter humiliation of being jabbed to submission against Joyce. Again, case closed.

 

I’ve read you moan about rankings several times, but now you’re citing rankings to back up your point. If Povetkin and Parker are “A-level” then what distinction does Fury and Usyk have? Your terminology is as arbitrary as the rankings.

They all have much worse losses too - far worse than losing to Joyce while being up on the cards. Totally shot yourself in the foot there. They’re also about 10 - 18 years older than Dubois. If you think that by the end of Dubois’ career he’s not going to have a much better record then you are either biased or stupid.

A Fury vs Dubois fight would be good for both parties if not as a spectacle.

 

Hughie looked really good against both Wach and Hammer; he was making progress. Plus he had just signed for Boxxer/Sky Sports. Unfortunately, medical conditions have stalled Hughie's progress once again. I was very much looking forward to the Hunter fight.

Btw, I think Hammer was still hovering around the top 30 when he fought Hughie. He had gone the distance against Ortiz, and again against Yoka (in a bout where the Parisians were clearly protecting their home fighter). Whereas he looked extremely uncomfortable against Hughie and retired early. But it's already been a year since that fight, and Hammer is fully in King Pin territory now.

I think this would have been the next fight after Hunter. But, Dubois should fight Hunter next.

 

Hughie should have beat Pulev. Pulev is not a big puncher but a decent boxer, if Hughie was meant to have boxing skills and speed he should of have brang the fight to him..

...is useless by comparison and can't even beat relatively mediocre featherfists like Parker and Pulev, let alone Wilder and Wlad.

If Hughie was to fight Whyte, do you think that Whyte would fail to land a significant shot for 6 rounds and get one-shotted? If Hughie has a better defence than Fury then he shouldn't be getting hit by an ineffective plodder like Whyte.

 

Only Hughie Fury contest that his name could help generate huge returns in would be against his cousin Tyson and that would be more to do with interest in the rumoured family fall out.

 

Hughie is a very tough nights work. He has the ability to beat and avenge any of his losses. The thing about Hughie is he is painful to watch and he has struggled to gain momentum, his lack of punching power and his health issues obviously play a part in that. The current crop of British fighters all want massive pay days and I'm just not sure that comes with Hughie.

 

His health issues seem genetic and chronic. Young Fury had the same. Hope he recovers as he seems humble and I like watching him box.
