Joshua better look out. The Skirt is on the way up. Another snoozefest from Joshua and people could be looking elsewhere for their sporting hero. And Hughie Bear could become the people's champion.
I suspect the figures are high because men were actively trying to avoid that noncefest that is Eurovision and were flicking about channels for something else.
Haye was a former PPV fighter and at the time, people were expecting him to mount a challenge for Joshua down the line. That's like comparing Man Utd viewing figures with Everton. 1.5m is hugely impressive if true.
Loving the boxing on ch5, but I have seen zero advertising for any of it! Boxings a weird sport with a relatively low fan base but the fans always know when where a fights on but they just doesn't seem to be a push for the casuals, mental when it's the casuals who pay the £20 for PPVs but not targeted for free fights. Hennessy and 5 should be pushing the whole younger "better" cousins of Tyson card and utilise his name.
Boxing has always been popular Saturday night television. Honestly the sport went downhill with it being on SKY and PPV, now BT and BoxNation. It should be on the old terrestrial TV channels every week.
It doesn't surprise me. There's probably millions if casual boxing fans out there who wouldn't pay £20. I used to watch champions league football on TV. Now it's all on sky I've no interest in paying for it. Same thing.
1.5m? There was nothing on at the time apart from stupid Eurovision. That's why it was 1.5m, cause it was eurovision, some news garbage or the fight. No-one apart from men with briefcases watch bbc news, so it was basically eurovision or some actual action. All the scraps left from the people who don't care about boring eurovision HAD to watch the fight, because there was literally nothing else on, that's what UK TV is like atm. What's on monday? Antiques Roadshow and some cooking programs. What about tuesday? Antiques roadshow and some cooking programs. What about...? Do I even need to answer... How about homes under the hammer just to add some spice to the daily viewings? Yes please!.... When there's nothing on, you either look up at the sky and die of total and complete boredom, or you watch Hughie Fury. That's what people were given as options on saturday, and that's why the numbers were so good.
I seen tv figures have been released, 2.9 million people watched Fury v Sexton ! Unbelievable figures, well done to all concerned.
