Eddie Hearn just said in an interview that he's got a huge fight lined up for him.... and everyone will be shocked... Could it be Povetkin? Peter Fury mentioned in an interview a few weeks ago that they want Povetkin!! I'm calling it here, we are gonna see Fury vs. Povetkin.
Povetkin destroys Hughie in 5 rounds or less, Hearn if that's what he's implying, showing off those stellar matchmaking skills of his again.
I would love to see this fight. I think Hughie either runs like a complete ***** like he did against Parker, and cries robbery when he loses a decision again. Or Povetkin cracks that chin in 4 rounds, and we finally have to stop listening to people claim he is only 24 and will be world champion one day
Hughie didn't look good against Sam Peter's ghost. He still can't throw a right hand to save his life. Povetkin is a bad match-up for him.
So if it's Povetkin not everybody will be shocked, because you came up with it and I'm not shocked if it's him either. Conclusion, it's not Povetkin, or Hearn is talking out of his ass again.
Hughie had close fights with top-tenners Parker and Pulev. He should be able to beat 40y old Povetkin but if he doesn't it just further shows the sad state of the division.
Don't see how he wins this fight. Doesn't throw anywhere near enough punches and doesn't have the power to deter Povetkin.
Povetkin is a solid boxer. But he is getting old. And I think that Fury is in a learning proces. He may have had an idea of being a defensive master a la cousin Fury. But lacking the natural ability to counterpunch the Peter "fight" showed him throwing more punches than usual. He does not put his weight behind. But a busy jab and some follow-up right crosses can put some damage to his opponent skull. Add uppercuts and he ain't as bad as so many hope he'll remain.
Peter is full of ****. He would never allow this fight to happen. Hughie was having issues at times with the pressure of a shot to **** Peter ffs. Povetkin would kill him and finish off what's left of his already mangled career.
